Those who know Jerky.
« on: December 10, 2003, 01:54:10 PM »
Anyone know of any brands that don't have brown sugar in them? Or atleast not in abundance?? I'm trying to find a good beef jerky for this weekend, nice a chewey, no flavorings, unless it's natural.

Going to a living history and need a good quality beef jerky..

It's this weekend...

Mmmmm... jerky.  There's a jerky store where I grew up... nothing but jerky of every kind imaginable.  Beef, deer, ostrich, turkey, everything.  Expensive, but yuuuuummmmmyy.

Try searching for it online, maybe you've got a similar store in your area.  If not, some delis and meat markets make jerky.

What kind of meat should I use when making my own? And what cut?

Almost any of the dark, quick (30 minute) commercial marinades works well, especially with venison.  I use a brand called Dale's , but I don't have any idea how available it would be outside of Arkansas.  No other seasonings are needed when you use this.
