% from Janneh thread:

Ok, looks like the p38 is about 10-11% of the field. Hitech, even you want the 38! I tell ya, YOU have to put your foot down! :-)

You mean the legendary Grumman XF-5F Skyrocket, juzz?

HAWKAAAAAAAA!

Just the thing for the fantasy arena, to invoke fear and trembling in the (eventual) StukaDweeben.

the 38 is the most glaring thing missing from the roll of planes as it stands now. we want it and have wanted it from the beginning. it will be the first time it has ever been modeled properly (if they can pull it off) from lookin at the posts from the long "what is most wanted single plane" it seems to be 90% dream planes and rag planes where as 38 pops up again and again.  the 38 is good also if you are adding different models as it was the only plane in production at the begining of the war that was also in production at the end of the war.
and if you give us a accurate l model or better k ( that is the late war lighter armor model right?)  51s will be fallin like rain , somthin wee need badly, as a full 50 percent of all planes seem to be the 51 ( on its second or 3rd revision now, hitechs favorite plane?)

im not bichin so stuff the wine posts! i just want a tool to smack down some of the no skill 650 kn killers who now patrol in hourds using numbers , blistering speed  (and inacurate flap model) to win fights where skill wont do.

give me the king of anti grav turning (one that didnt have laminar wings that make the 51s 10g 250 kn turn a laugh)

P-38 or the Zeke is the next logical step.

Or maybe a Typhoon?

A P-47?

A F6F?  No, already a blue plane in there.

Already 2 German fighters.

How about a twin engine bomber?

Regardless of what we think,  HT and Company have it already figured out!

They Know. Their just not tellin!!

Swager,
Much as I'd love a zeke to fly in AH, it's not the plane needed. If AH ever does an early war arena, or rotateing plane set then will be time enough to yell for it.

Bring on the p38 in all it's varients.
Good mud mover, excellent roll rate, good turn rate, good speed, no conv guns.

The L would be my prefered choice for it's lack of compression in a dive (Required to kill those p51's running for cover)

If you want another Japanese plane bring on the ki-61 or the "Raiden", or KI-84, or even the twin eng "Nick"

2 American fighters = P-51D, F4U-1D
2 American bombers = B-17G, B-26B
1 American utility = C-47

2 German fighters = Bf109G-10, Fw190A-8
1 British fighter = Spitfire MkIX
1 Russian fighter = La-5FN

1 Italian fighter = C.205
1 Japanese fighter = N1K2-J

The first 9 were fairly common and produced in large numbers during WW2. The last 2 were only built in small numbers, and served for a comparitively short time in combat.

Why are they there? C.205 because it's the only (long-overdue) Italian fighter in a flight sim, and the N1K2-J? - I understand it's a favourite of some people at HTC.

What I think is important to note is that they aren't "unbalancing" latewar "uberplanes"... Seems we can have rare planes as long as they aren't too good

Anyway, I think we need to see a late-war axis bomber soon. Ju88/188 or Ki-67, maybe the problematic He177.

Now about this P-38... I would love to see a glass nose option for the P-38J and L

towd; I think the K was only made in VERY small numbers - like a single prototype

"1 Italian fighter = C.205

Well, maybe we got them nt because of why you thought. Perhaps they were modelled because these were about the only aicraft that from those two countries able to stand on the same footing as the post 1943 allied aircraft?
As well as being completely unavailable in any other sim (cept AW for the "Niki") and looooong asked for by many.
As for the buffs and the P38, your right on. The P-38K never made it much beyond testing.

What about the Ki-84 and Ki-61/100? I see your point, but I think I can safely say we will never see planes like the Ta152H or P-51H in Aces High...

I love the 38 in AW3.  But is it necessary to specify a model preference? Surely, AH is a SIM that outclasses everything I have seen-so far.  Giving a plane the standard characteristics, fuel and ammo loads, can be a plus...IMO.  Upgrades can always be added later.  The P38 model should be added, but lets not specify which model *we* want!  OK, I am not a purist.  I just like to fly and die here.  A single P-38 model is fine for me.  Likewise, any other plane is welcome too.

Looks like you did your homework. Now you see why i asked for the "K" model in the original thread :-)) Pretty much looks like all would be a running. :-)

And yes any model would do HTC. (nudge, nudge, wink, wink....)   (g)
