Seems like a good time to be flight simmer!

Shortly after ths mauling I went down with controls almost ineffective & a fuel fire to boot. Hit the water before the inevitable fuel tank explosion but didn't survive the impact :)

It is indeed a good time to be a flight simmer :)

I found it's been real tuff (actually, impossible is the right word) to whip the credit card out and sign up.  If there is anything about iEN that makes me seriously nervous it's giving them that number.

I personally will hold out until the Bile Pill is dethroned and hopefully another group can snatch up WB III. Then perhaps I could be sure my subscription is paying for something that is heading in a development direction I don't mind supporting.  If I'd been a WB-III subscriber for the past couple of years I'd certainly not have been to pleased at all with the focus on making cheasy knock offs instead of creating substantial improvements to what it was I was actually paying to enjoy.

Roscoroo,

Thats all well and good but did you know that the full download for Fighter Ace 3.6 weighs in at 457MB!!!! Its friggin huge compared to the download for WB3. On my ADSL connection I am looking at 141KB/sec on the download right now and its still going to take me a little over 55 minutes to download it. Then I have to figure out how to run it and getting it to shutdown without having to reboot the system. Something I had to do all through the FA3 beta, as well as the last time I tried FA when they released the 3.5 update and I got three months with the CD. I had the same problem all during my time in FA2-2.5.

I just downloaded Dawn Of Aces again and played it for a bit offline. If there was a good WWI sim out there I would go to it. It's a shame it is'nt offered here....
I did find it interesting that one of the drones I shot up was named, "HITECH"

I remember when the original Doom free version was available.

I downloaded it at the computer lab at school, download rate of less than 2 bps.  Took over an hour and the program was so big that even zipped it had to be stored on 2, yes TWO floppy discs!

My friends and I *****ed about the file size. What kind of a game needs the storage space provided by two floppy discs?!? A decade or so later, and now games are 200+ megs, compressed. :lol

Y'all on cable and DSL have nothing to complain about. I downloaded WBIII on a dial-up. About 8 to 10 hours was the total time it took. Ouch!

I never could understand why someone with a broadband connection would gripe about a large download size.  Just click the download link, minimize download, install when download is finished.  Whether it takes 2 minutes or 2 hours, it's not like you have to put your life or other computer activities on hold for the download.  I can see how it'd suck for people on dial-up, but then they've got dial-up, so screw 'em. :p

After the credit card nonesense I've heard many times about IEN, no thanks.  Plus, I prefer giving my money to the folks at HTC, as I know right where their interests are - enhancing AH and making it as successful as possible.  As for games whose developers don't feel are worth paying for yet . . . come back when they are worth it.  I do hope WBIII keeps on rolling along though, as there are folks who like it and it'd be unfortunate for their sim to die.
