So if I send you a link to a dodgey website via email and you click on that link does that make you a pedaphile?

IMHO while the intent is good the method they use is extremely flawed.

All internet tracking methods are flawed. They presume guilty until proven innocent.

Did you read the article???????????

Visitors to the site will be alerted that they are breaking the law that their details could be circulated to law enforcement officers in a host of countries.

In the past, police have swooped on frequent visitors of such sites, often identifying them through credit card details they used to pay for viewing the images

I dont know about you....but If i'm alerted that what i'm doing is "breaking the law"  I dont continue browsing and then enter a credit card to get more.  A person who is a pedifile might though.

I know you arent defending child porn but if ONE less kid in this world is molested wouldnt this be worth it?

Did you ever learn anything about the internet ?????????

All I have to do is direct link to an image or a page in the site and embed that link in an email, then email that to someone and bingo they're listed as a potential pedaphile. Its not very hard to get someone inside without 'clicking' that kind of warning.

For example, I could find a piccy link there, embed it in this posting, then YOUR IP address would access it and be listed as a potential pedaphile - when in reality all you did was open this topic.

Besides, this is NOT targetting the hardcore scum. They're all on IRC and newsgroups or in places like Thailand & Cambodia actually committing the act.

I don't get it. I only skimmed the article, but aren't the people only mailing their particular brand of depravity to paying customers? I'm assuming the people in the videos are not minors and are willing participants. Where is the problem?

postal regulations, regarding what can be mailed, I'd imagine.

they'd probably avoided jail time if they'd used UPS.

That's a fairly large loop-hole. I wonder if section 1461 applies to private carriers.

My friend served on a Federal Grand Jury for a year.  He can finally talk about some of the things he saw

Some of the pedophile stuff is pretty loosely strung...but what's more damaging, even if these folks just did something stupid at viewing this stuff...is the public embarassment of simply being charged.  Whether or not the person is guilty or innocent...or even before it goes to trial...the person's reputation is destroyed.  The media coverage, etc...the damage to the family emotionally...then financially, to defend themselves in the legal system.

Don't get me wrong, most are guilty and deserve whatever humiliation they get.  But there are some that are simply accused or entrapped, and then publicly crushed...before it ever gets to the bench.
