I'd start by asking this in the Hardware formum but while you're here goto  Settings/Joystick/Advanced and make sure the Sensitivity is high and the Null Zone is low for the throttle. Then see what happens.

I have X45 & Win XP SP1, works fine with FS9.

Have you checked the joystick sensitivity settings, null zone & sensitivity?
Sensitivity should be at maximum (towards right) and null zone at minimum (towards left)

You should also check you have no conflicting inputs for throttle.

Actually the flight model is improved aswell and the new 3d cockpits are very nice. In 2004 the planes will even spin! They didn't fix the rudder modelling though, it has been the same from the very beginning.

X-plane flight model and smoothness combined with FS2004 would be really something.

For addons, try simviation.com, AVSIM.com, flightsim.com.  There are some really nice addons out there for free. Luck:)

Well Im stumped, that didnt fix the x45 throttle..still no full throttle.

I did a quick 1 hour hop in the Lear, the Garmin interface is pretty neat.  The clouds and dynamic weather are a lot of fun

Not much more ideas then..

The dynamic weather is quite buggy though, albeit works juuuust fine in US.

In europe it doesnt understand '9999' correctly if there are bit clouds around and it doesnt understand drag coefficiency at all and in fact takes it as visibility!

EFHK 311420Z 24004KT 9999 -SN OVC021 M02/M04 Q1022 1539//64 5419//69 TEMPO BKN014

-- this would mean there would be like 1.5km visibility, it doesnt understand for 1539//64 or 5419//69 type of readings in METAR.

I released a fix for the '9999' visibility bug, but how to fix drag, thats far more complicated, especially when MS by nature isn't too helpful.

Got my Dad a computer and joystick with FS2004 for Xmas and have been playing it all vacation. Its really good. Can't say i understand the obs/vor instrument lesson, but that and the fogged in ILS lesson are quite fun. I turned up the settings as suggested and made it 'realistic' per the game settings- it's actually not too bad. Now i just need a Piper Tomahawk w/ realistic panel.

Yea, for ILS, a slower plane is best to learn with.  I'm still lost in planes like the 747.  Aces High spoiled me and my big buffs.  I learned a neat lesson...MAKE SURE FLAPS ARE DOWN...but wow, that bird can climb!

I've been enjoying the Mooney.  My home airport (KBGR) was scanned pretty nicely...try it.  11,400 ft runway!  Head S/SE to Bar Harbor/Trenton in Fall settings.  Its pretty impressive.

I like FS2004, and have been praising that wonderful external view as the easiest and most intuitive ever.  Fun just buzzing around and looking at stuff, such as circling Oahu just before sundown.

I fly in FS2000.  The MOST fun plane I have seen in it is the Pitts S2S.  Great for aerobatics and tricks.

I learned the ILS in the standard Cessna.  Its easy to do in that plane.

If you like the Mooney I would recommend, for an old alternative, the Piper Supercub.  If you put that one in a virtual cockpit view, its great for sightseeing and other sorts of things like that.  It's slow and can fly low which makes it great for exploring the terrains.  Wonderful the way they can do such things.

A beautiful place to fly in the mountains is at an airport just about an hour away from my house, great place I love to visit, is at Ingalls in FS2000, or Ingalls Field as in real life. (Airport code HSP).  Make it at sunset in the winter and it is absolutely gorgeous.

I have owned all the MSFlightsims since version 4.0 and this one (FS2004) is the best one so far in my opinion. I really like the older prewar and war time aircraft the best though I do indulge myself with some of the newer planes. Go to Avsim.com and do a search for Bill Lyons. He has some great freebies that used to be payware in there. A Waco biplane, some cubs, Ryan STA, Tiger Moth and a Swift that are really a lot of fun to fly.

I reccomend flying these in Virtual Cockpit mode only. He really does a good job on these and his 2D cockpits leave a little to be desired since his intent is for the planes to be flown in VC mode.

If you don't mind spending a little money for some payware aircraft there are some really good ones out there from  Dreamfleet and from FSD International . I have purchased the Archer, the Cardinal, and the Cessna 310 from Dreamfleet and the Chyenne and the Seneca from FSD International. I have been really pleased with these purchases.

Of course your mileage may vary ;)
