Found this Fw 190A-8 (looks like an A-8 to me) at the Flyingmule.com

And this Bf 109G-6 too.

A6M5c

They also carry the P-47D and P-51D. All but the Mustang and Zero would be back ordered as demand is high. You can get the F4U-1A directly from Mattel or Target online. P-40s, Spitfires and F6Fs are still on store shelves at Toys-R-Us and Target.

My regards,

Widewing

Great Idea Ikon with small problem. Take Mattel for instance...

Legal fees alone would cost 10s or 100s of thousands of dollars just to setup up the Promo. No cost for the actual marketing yet included. There is ZERO chance of doing anything like this on the cheap. Can't give them a cut of profits, etc, etc, etc.

Hang them up Widewing, they shine in the air. Have 4 "up" so far and have to make room for the 4th FG Jug that's on the way.

I like them all, although I think the external fuel tank and the guns on the 190 were kinda crappily fabricated and could have been produced better.

Man I wish I had my hands on that P-38.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I have the P-40 and F-4U by Matchbox and they are nice diecasts. The things I don't like about them is that they come on the stand only and have the horrible "Matchbox" logo on the stand. Corgi has a nice clear plastic stand and landing gear are optional so you can display them on the ground. If you want to see an outstanding diecast in 1/72 scale, take a look at Dragon's line. Moveable flaps, engraved panel lines, etc. Their Zero and P-51s look really nice and they do modern also.
I work at an air museum store and we also carry Armour/Franklin Mint. They are coming out with new planes all the time, and dispite the cost, make a good product. If you want to avoid high cost and lack of display space, try collecting the Corgi minis. They are 1/100 scale and all sell for $6.95 in our store. Model Power is also a good diecast, although not as nice as the ones mentioned above. They come in scale right around 1/100 and retail from $9.95 to around $15.00. They make a lot of unusual types not usually seen in the diecast world. Planes like the Val, He-111, F4F and Ki-45 to mention a few.
If anyone is in the Seattle area, come by and check out the Museum of Flight's store.

Yep. I haven't seen any of these models live and just saw these matchbox models the first time in this thread. After I took a look in the internet I do agree the stand looks bad and it isn't only the logo but also the position that they are mounted. I whish they could be displayed with gear down. Also the absense of swastikas in the Luftwaffe planes is very silly. That's where the Corgi ones are better. Movable landing gear and position on the stand ect.

I just don't see the overall quality of details in the Corgi line. There are nice ones like the P-51D and then there are some really ugly ones like 109E.

Anyways, thanks for the tips! I appriciate them! I'll definately check out those Dragons 1/72s that's the smallest scale I consider. ;) The problem for me is that any model that I'm going to buy I probably have to order abroad as I think none of them are brought to Finland. :(

EDIT/ Just checked out those Dragon modes. Both Zero and Mustang look great! Can't wait to see 109G and the 190s! :) /EDIT

Now that I've seen the quality the Dragon puts out I think I'll wait and see when they release their 109G and the Dora. I'd order the P-51 and the Zero in a heart beat but as my funds are limited I'm gonna start with the most essential ones for me. :)

I bougfht the Gabby jug some time ago, I was amazed by the quality for the price. Even have gun smoke on the wings:cool:

IIRC, about the jug insignias, they had 2 under the wings, but one was smaller than the other... sounds weird ... dam this memory.
Dat jugs bro.

Yes, as has been acknowledged in several places, the weakness of the Matchbox Collectibles 1/72s is the plastic stand that isn't substantial enough to adequately support a diecast metal model.

In contrast, the Corgi plastic stand does very well for its diecast metal model of the DC-3 that hangs in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington.

I've been looking on Ebay, just looking ;) and the thier calling the P-38 the rarest of the entire two sets. And the the P-38 and all the axis a/c seem to be the most expensive, I'm kinda glad I "invested" in them. Now to get my hands on that P-38.

Widewing you said there are going to be more produced periodically, do you mean the same a/c or new a/c? Is there a place I can read about new MB a/c?
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

The franklin mint has some real cool diecast products....But alot of companies have real cool diecast aircraft... The Corgi and Matchbox diecast sets are for the beginning diecast collector or just toys... But for the collector with big bucks you can buy some "Tim the Toolman" taylor size Die cast aircraft.... Argh Argh Argh"
