doom3's graphics look like that of movie special effects animation...but the gameplay probably won't be as good as neither half life 2 or halo2.

There's a 500+meb demo file out there for HL2.
If you haven't seen it, get it. The mod possibilities make me drool.

The thing Halo does that I don't think any other game has done to date (I think! I haven't played many FPS games) is that you can play the campaign with a friend in the same room on the same system.

ahem...the double dragon series to name one...twisted metal series (probably one of the best ps1 games EVER...with the exception of metal gear:solid)

ive played wolfenstein 3d blake stone doom quake 3 unreal dues ex and americas army...all except americas army play pretty much the same...the only difference is how fast i got sick...2-3 minutes for the early games, half hour for quake 3, 2 hours for dues ex...

then again the real time strategy games are all pretty much the same...i still cant tell the difference play in any of the age series and the other games i tried arnt any different...the only really new thing to the series is the one where you customize creatures...

overall i have to say the entire game industry is lacking substance nowadays...to much emphasis on graphics...

Double Dragon, Twisted Metal, and Metal Gear:Solid are not FPS games.

First Person Shooters are games like Doom, RTCW, UnReal, HL, etc.

Metal Gear:Solid is a third person strategy game. Double Dragon is a third person fighting game, and Twisted Metal is a third person vehicle combat game.

I never could get into Deus, I never was into FPS either.

But I can't deny, that HL2 looks pretty awesome.

Well, I really stated it poorly Vorticon. After re-reading it, before replying, I saw how it could be interpreted differently.

To begin with, I should have stated "FPS Coop campaign on the same system". There is no PC game that can do that (by nature, two PCs are required for multiplayer), and I really don't believe there is any console FPS game that allows people to play the campaign coop on the same system.

As far as HL-2 goes, it should be interesting. So long as they have an interesting story line with multiple ways to achieve an objective. I played the first HL several times through, and there was more than one way things could be done... OpFor was a pretty short and very straightforward storyline OTOH.

I don't like to say "this game is going to be better!" before I've tried it because I thought UnReal II would be great (after playing UnReal several times through, and, IMO, that was an excellent game) - but aside from eye candy it really blew.

I'll buy and play HL-2, and my friends will get Halo 2, so I'll play both in any event. Halo is really a straightforward game, but it is extremely fun when playing with a friend while drinking and kicking the AIs ass. Thats why, IMO, Halo was a great game. I played it all the way through on my own, but it just wasn't as fun as doing it coop.

whew, that had me worried.

You know, If you haven't heard...someone stole the source engine and scraps of HL2..you can actually download what they have so far...the thing that is bad is I think its illegal considering its stolen material.

why rate screenies you ask? its just not screenies. go read about 'em.

i beg to differ...if you have 2 joysticks you could (theoretically) play a hotseat(2 players 1 computer) flightsim...2 steering wheels (or 1 and a keyboard) you can play a hotseat racing sim (nfs is a prime example) etc. etc....you just need 2 input devices not 2 computers

most fighting games have either split screen versus or 1 screen co-op
last flight sim to have it was ace 2 as i remember
