i have been working on a p51 skin.. icant seem to get the airelons and flap to look good... also the plane looks all shiney , is there a way to turn of this shiny skin? this is a work in progress.. will be a RAF mustang when finnished

its just the lighting effects. If you rotate the camera correctly they won't appear all shiny.

Selector i dont saw any p51D in RAF camo, mostly they where silver with raf markings

Selector, you need to do a custom "hand painting" style of job on the surfaces after all the works are finished.

 What I mean by that, is the method plastic modellers use on their planes: even though plastic models come against a real world light still it looks improper - it just doesn't look like a metal plane up against sunlight.

 So what the modellers do, is exaggerate the shadows and highlights with a shadow of black and white cleverly placed on the plane.

 The same holds for the textures used on the skins: try overlaying a "highlight" layer above the initial skin, ie. I'd spray a weak trace of black over the ailerons and tips to kill the 'glossy' look.

Kweassa the problem is that P-51D has by default hardcoded high values for highlight and gloss values intot he 3D model.. you have no way at the moment to decrease those and even if you paint it black it will be a shiny black... glass like black... very unrealistic looking...  And unless a modification is made to the texturing and skinning the only type of textures usable for P-51D that will look "believable" will be the bare metal ones :(
