Just wondering if we can get rid of the kill me stickers in AH2?

a way of icon range limitation would be good.. for example a 109 set to 6k as normal...perk planes set to different distances like 262 1.5k...spit 14 3k temp 2k and so on...

It wouldn't change the loss of perks if you die, Havoc, that risk by itself is supposed to justify the benefit of flying a perk ride.  The point is that the "kill me now" sign negates your advantage, unless you're in a 262 or 163.

I am of the school that if you are a good enough pilot to get a faster, tougher plane through perks, you should be good enough to survive in it.

I don't know though, since I have never really had enough perks to to fly the good stuff.

I do know, though, that a 262 at 1.5 isn't even enough to pull the trigger at.  It's bad enough they are faster than all the non-perk planes, but to make them stealth just doesn't seem fair.

Havoc is right. If you wanna fly the perks there's no reason you should hide behind an icon.

The perk planes do well each tour as is.

That's BS.

You put a price on any aircraft and it's usage will drop and it's K/D will shoot up.  It is people flying cautiously and rare use that gives them the K/D ratios.

Look at the K/D ratio of the f4U-1C before and after perking it.  Compare the F4U-1C's K/D ratio to the F4U-4's, Spitfire XIV's and Ta152's K/D ratios.  The perk icons are what do them in.  In most cases the performance of the perk planes isn't that much better, and in the case of those three is in many ways worse, than the top end free planes.

If I want to get gangbanged I can just fly to any enemy dominated sector without spending my "reward" points to do so.

making the spitXIV icon disappear for Spit, F4u-4 icon disappear for F4u and are the types of changes i'd like.

as for the jets, nothing resembles their flight characteristics as closly, and should stay identifyed as they are.

So? Who cares if you don’t like to get gangbanged? That happens perk or no perk. You still shouldn't be allowed to hide behind an icon. If you want to fly the faster rare planes then you should do it openly.

Perk Planes do well now; they certainly aren't "done in". One could argue that since they are perked most folks have less time in them and may not know their ride as well. Despite your claim of being gangbanged and unfamiliar pilots they still do well. Allowing them to hide will mean they have an even greater impact. Keep them out in the open. The icons effect everyone who flies perks equally. I used to fly the 152 quite often and never felt any more “gangbanged” then usual.

I could suggest that once you are in a “perk plane” maybe you get paranoid and think that “everyone is out to get you”. That maybe so but I never felt that way. The only 2 planes this really benefits in the F4U-4 and Spit 14 (2 planes that both you and the author of this thread would fly). A tempest is still a temp, a 262 is still a 262, a 163 is still a 163, a Tank is still a Ta152, a tiger is still a tiger, and an Ar234 is still a 234.

It would be convenient if those 2 could hide wouldn’t it. The fair thing is to keep it as is.

Oh the Chog was the "original suicide Jabo" so it could be that now its perked its not flown as recklessly as before.

For me all icons should be simpler
Hurr
Spit
P51
P47
Lav
Yak
152
190
110
109
202
205
262
N1K2
Ki##
F4u
F4F
F6F

I would quite happily play without GV and P icons. Things are going to be dissappearing half the time any way.

So the Spit XIV and the Chog are not obvious any more (is the Chog now?) and is that an la7 or an la5?

Seems a bit inconsistant we dont see different icons for 109E or 109g10 but see them for la5 and la7.

I think HTC has already decided on icons but for me I would be pleased to have

TTTT N.N where T =Type and N = range  (in thousands of yards)

I don't think hiding behind a 'anonyomous' tag is good, but I also think the artificially accelerated risk of flying a perked plane is bad.

I think range based identification is a good compromise.

Icons displaying the 'base type' until 1.0k, and then displaying 'specific type' under 1.0k - ie. a Ta152H displayed as '190' up to 1.0, and then switching to '152' under 1.0k... or a Spit14 displayed as 'Spit' to 1.0k, and then 'Spit14' under 1.0k.

 I think that will actually bring a very interesting aspect concerning the skill level of a pilot - a pilot with a sharper grasp of things might spot out a Tempest, or a Ta152 earlier than others by judging how the opponent is doing;

for instance "hmm, that 190's got awefully long wings.. must be a 152!".. ;)

 or

"hmm, that Spitfire is way too fast for a Spit9.. must be a Spit14!"

Meaning, the detail level of info the icon displays is limited, and in ranges where the icon may display 'faulty' data, a pilot with a higher skill level might be able to perceive through it.

 I think it'd be interesting...

I like the MA setting now, that icons are visible out to 6k.

I would love to see the "anonymous" icons suggested here. To have plane type icons only show at closer ranges.

I seldom fly perk planes because I find the neon icons to negate the überness of perk planes, especially in the case of the spit14 and f4u4.

An arena with more perk planes would be fun, even if it means me being shot down more often. Just look at the current "what if..?" CT setup... love it!
