New Ma Map Been working on
« on: February 17, 2004, 10:27:56 PM »
Here is the picture of the latest build of my new Ma map.

Still some work to go, but mainly its editing textures and placing the resupply system in place. Still have to add in furball island.

Fester and myself have different ways of building a map, fester tends more towards what he will like in a map, and i tend more to the layout of strat targets and positions. Hes map i agree are great fun, though with repativness comes bordem. Some people  may hate his maps some may like mine, or visa versa. We both help each other out on the map creation proccess and we both try to achieve the best gameplay on either of our maps.

This is the 2nd MA map and its just a dry test run of some of the idea i still have install for another ma map later down the track.

I have the following things to finish on the map before sending it off to hitech.

Add in resupply system.
Add in furball island.
Tweak graphics of fields.
Add in road network grid system.

Thanks for the support, this map will be a blast trust me when i get it finished and tweaked out.

About 48hrs left to finish this map.

Though the proccess of building this map was greatly decreased by the help of my utility autoleveler, and autofield placement. It just remove those repative tasks.

That is a very impressive map, and I love the tiles.

I have a question, when you make a map, do you inport an elevation guide--The basic map layout with a topo-style to it, based in colors about elevation, with lightest meaning highest and darkest lowest etc...--or do you do all of your terrain elevations by hand?

actualy the proccess is to do your elevation in a 2D editor like photoshop, all by hand btw. After your happy with your elevation in photoshop covert it over and import it into the editors.

Very little 3D Terriean Editing i do in the editor most is done in photoshop.

The bridges do not cross over a water tile, i just made the land mass impossible to traverse around it about a 3K drop :).

Btw you need to -1 to the bridge height to allows gvs tocross on it.

So either side you have a height of 500 feet, you put the bridge at 499 feet instead this gives the gv alittle bounce when getting onto the bridge.

The only draw back at doing this is, you need about 10mph to get onto the bridge to bounce onto to say. But getting off is very easy, just getting on is the hard part were you need alittle speed.

Though i thought about this hard and long the advantages really overweigh the disadvantages.

Btw if you want to make it soo they can cross over water for example, just use the snow tile -retuexture it with water texture and just make the bridge location were even if you go down to the water if the bridge is destoryed getting to the other landmass is usless because of the slop.

The bridges are Structure's so looking up the htiech table for the time.

Structure
to kill = 250 lb
downtime = 45 minutes
any country can destroy.

But the structure settings can be changed i was hoping for somthing like this.

To kill
5000 lb
Downtime = 5 minutes

This give a good amout of time for gvs to cross for combat without the bridge blowing up from under them.
