Forget Uber Plane - Get and Uber Puter
« on: September 30, 2000, 03:11:00 PM »
This past week i got a new computer for home since Im sending my old computer to my office for work stuff.

Holy moly tony jack-a-lone

My Old Puter =
PII-350, 128mb ram, 16mb TNT Nvidia card, 19" old monitor
* Choppy gameplay
* Low res only (like 640x400)
* Dim monitor
* At best, 30fpm, at worst in smoke with cons, about 8fpm

New Puter =
PIII-800
256mb rdram
64mb DDR GeForce2 video card
21" monitor, .24dp
* Now I play highest level resolution
* Now I get 80 fpm
* Now I can see cons from WAY far away
* Now I can see every detail on cons in close fights, like damage on their plane, rudder/flap movement, stuff that didnt even show up before
* Now I can spot groud vehicles from WAY far away
* Now I never get lagged, never choppy

This is an entirely different game with a nice computer set up. It has definitely increased my flight performance and kill ratio.

Amazing what you dont know you are missing until you step over to the other side of the fence.

80 frames per minute? Or 80 feet per minute?

I had P133 in during AHs beta
(wowsa.. 48mb RAM, 4mb voodoo)

Then I got celeron 500 with V770 and 128mb.. ahhh..
Amazingly I had problems to get adjusted in that higher framerate.. action felt somewhat slower to that what I was used to.
It took me almost month to get used to it.

(I had even gunnery % below my P133 times)

Remember, you need to reformat your HD often, if you have installed too many games or apps over time it will begin to slow your CPU down... especially games that leave their registry entries.

I reformat my HD about once every 2 or 3 months depending on how my system is acting, you can also get an increase in modem/dsl speed in my experience.

Not to mention increase in Frame Rates.

I do the same...my boot drive gets a reformat quarterly...using a fresh Ghost Image is a real time saver and makes reformatting a breeze.
