tabasco
« on: February 19, 2004, 06:24:54 PM »

i have become a true addict.

im up to over 1 1fl oz. a week. i have to buy the 5oz. bottles to last maybe a month. im putting 5-6 drops on every potato chip i eat, let alone everything else.

it all started maybe 2 years ago with :

which tastes better but not as hot (and only sold locally in the baby 1.5oz bottles).

now i bring it to work LOL. i have adjusted my diet to only thing i can put it on.

yesterday @ work a co-worker said he smelt tabasco around 9AM... i shower @ night before bed not in the morning.. and had had a snack right before bed: toritilla chips with tabasco on them.

turns out it was coming out of my pores LOL.

funny thing is now i wont eat (because they dont taste good with tabasco on them.. and i have tried them all):

Thai
mashed potatoes and gravy
chips ahoy cookies (any desert type foods even)
sweedish meatballs
turkey (for some reason chicken is MADE for tabasco but turkey isn't)
salad
peas
stuffing
tuna

thats all so far but im sure ill find other things tabasco doesnt go with
I don't know what to put here yet.

When you find yourself looking for a change JB, find a local oriental grocery (or order from the Internet) some Huyfong Sriracha sauce.

Quote
Sriracha is made from sun ripen chilies which are ground into a smooth paste along with garlic and packaged in a convenient squeeze bottle. It is excellent in soups, sauces, pastas, pizzas, hot dogs, hamburgers, chowmein or on anything else to give it a delicious, spicy taste. Like all our sauces, we use only the highest quality ingredients and never any artificial colors or flavorings.

I started out on tobasco, but once I tried Sriracha it was hard to go back. It's like super catsup. Fairly hot (in the tobasco range, perhaps a bit hotter) but not overpowering and with a good flavor. I eat it with most meals, though Pizza is the best. I've even added it to tunafish to give it some kick :)

For cooking, I now use the companion product:

Quote
A spicy sauce with a touch of garlic.

Chili Garlic is a tempting blend of coarsely ground chilies and garlic. The delicious flavor of the sauce complements everything from a cracker to poultry to soups. It has a full-bodied flavor that will make your mouth water.

There are some really hot hot sauces out there, but I like to actually taste at least some of the food's original flavor.

[EDIT: As an added benefit, you only feel the heat when you eat it, if you know what I mean :)]

That it is, brother SOB. When I first discovered it I found myself buying Tombstone Pizzas just to use the sauce :)

ya i got some "Dave's Insanity" it's outta this world hot but utterly usless.

the flavor of tabasco is what i love the most lately... the garlic most of all. the "hot" is just an added nice side effect.

Sriracha is OK, the best thing about it is it's cheap.  I also prefer the flavor of Tabasco to Sriracha.  Tabasco on pizza is greeet.

I bet if you poured a whole bottle of that into someones can of V8, and he drank it, he would croak. I mean like dead from too much hot sauce.

In college, I would drink a whole bottle in a swig for money.  I go through a couple of bottles of tabasco a week, plus a jar of japs and various amounts of screaming chicken sauce and the salsa on my breakfast tacos.

I am so addicted to hot food that I carry hot sauce when I travel, although it is less of a problem now than five years ago.

I generally prefer the Rooster (or chicken sauce as we call it) over Tabasco, though I do think Tabasco tastes better on steaks.

I also thinks chicken sauce makes a better tasting bloody mary :aok
