How is AH working?
« on: March 01, 2004, 08:34:47 AM »
I played Air Warrior in 97 and 98 and have felt the itch to turn fight again. The main reason I quit AW was that most of the fighter pilots moved to a strategy of flying high and fast, looking for easy kills at no risk, like entering a 1 on 1 in progress, or B&Z on a slower lower aircraft. This is an effective strategy, but IMHO, is about as much fun as watching paint dry. From HoHun's post, it looks like AH may have the same situation. Any comments?

Can't actually say what the split of players between T&B and B&Z game styles are - however since the SPits and Niki's are so popular in the game it would seem that T&B has it's fair share of afficianado's.

Take a look at this site to see which a/c has become the more popular for a gauge on styles.

http://www.innomi.com/ahkillstats/totalstats.php

Some maps create certain styles of play so people can dislike them.

Only way to know for sure is to suck it and see if you like it.

You're always going to have types that are 'one pass, haul ass' and those that wait until others engaged before they dive.

This will happen no matter what type of game you're in.

While I wouldn't have stated it quite this way, I think you'll find all of the styles represented, with T&B seeming to be the most popular.

fewer 1 v 1 fite in main arena than in airwarrior.  maybe the combat theater would be more to your liking.

In London, perhaps. You'll probably want to abandon that little piece of the vernacular on your next visit to the States. ;)

That was something that has and always been a part of these type of games.  It was around in AW in '93 when I started, same thing in WB when I played and ditto for AH.  Yes, AH has its share of pilots like RAGS and Zazen but there are also a lot of excellent pilot in here that love to mix it up.  No matter your flying style, you'll find it in AH.  Give it a try and see for yourself, there's no cost so it's a win-win situation for you.

Funny AKAK, I caught Rags a time or two where he actually had to fight. He was unremarkable.  Never did understand why some folks thought  he was the bomb.

It sounds like AH has its share of cherry pickers, but looking at the stats for the various types of aircraft, there must be some turnfighters up there too. I am cautiously optimistic, if I can get my old joystick and pedals to work my newer computer, I will give it a try.

Thanks, Parm
