Thanks. :)

I'm not sure on the car (although it won't be a 2CV, Ripsnort :D). I've only just moved into my first flat. I want to go halves on a Laser with my mate if I get into sailing, and I also want to get back into snow-boarding and go boarding in Canada next year. And my flat desperately needs a big TV.

When I qualify I'll buy myself an Evo in celebration - I guess it will be an Evo X by then. ;)

A long road ahead - 17 exams.

Right ,it's a 2CV.

You can't imagine how fun is this car and how many generation starting driving with this...
In fact you can imagine : it's the local French version of the beetle or of the WV Minivan.

Management accounting I assume is the same as "cost accounting" just as it is in Canada, right?

Can't say I was a big fan of it.  Fortunately we have no real manufacturing here, so it wasn't really relevant for me...but I still had to learn it.

Funny, because the old stereotype of accountants is just plain wrong these days.  I was older than most of the other students when I went through and it was tough keeping up with them when we went out to the bars etc.

Good fun though....lots more women in accounting now too.:aok

Not sure, to be honest. It's not restricted to manufacturing - that just happens to be what the company I'm with does. Here's the blurb off the website:

"CIMA is quite unlike other accounting or financial qualifications. Its scope extends far beyond pure accountancy and even most management training courses. It is a complete education for business in the twenty-first century. And it is recognised and valued the world over.

By completing the CIMA qualification you will show to employers that your skills set is far greater than number crunching alone. You will have developed key decision making, management, strategic and analytical skills.

Year after year, the world’s most prestigious employers put CIMA at the top of their list of preferred business qualifications. CIMA will be your passport to career success in any field you choose: commerce, financial services, consultancy, government, the public sector, or manufacturing."

OK, it's their sales pitch but I have friends who went the ACA, pure audit, big 5 route and took their advice along with those who did CIMA. It's a more specialised approach, but I think it suits my experience and where my interest lies. Hopefully, I've made the right choice!

Hi Dowding,

No it's impossible to kill the helicopters I'm afraid. Of course I could tell you the GODE MODE cheat code, but then I'd have to kill you etc etc.

Not even Mr Black could snipe em down ;)

MT he manufactures Northern Grit.

lol Wilf - I like that. Northern Grit Ltd. :)

Shame about that chopper! I must have tried about 10 times one dull sunday afternoon to kill it. :D

MT - we make paper and convert it into 'away from home' paper products like napkins etc. Georgia-Pacific to be exact. Not exactly exciting, but it's a tough market (believe it or not) and has provided some good experience.

Beetle - lol I've got 6 points on my license because of speeding and have considered forming an anti-speed camera action group ;). Makes my blood boil!
