Lasz, I haven't shot a Kimber yet, so I can't comment on them personally. From yourself and others (including instructors at Gunsite) I've heard that they are high quality guns. So much so, that, as I said, I'll probably look to them first. However, after 15 years with my Colt, I'd trust it before anything else.
As to the Browning, I believe that some of the newer Hi-Powers may be coming out as double-action, but I was refering to the original Belgein FN Hi-Powers. Incredibly detailed and well-made weapons. My dad has two, one is a Canadian Inglis-made model with the grip slot for the stock and the other is an engraved Belguin Renaissance model that my grandparents bought him years ago:
