Figured this might cause some intelligent discussion,  maybe that is just wishful thinking.

My opinion, CT is better
Why?  Because you don't have the huge packs of La-7's, Spit IX's, P-51D's, Nik2's, and all the other so-called 'dweeb' planes.
Also, you get an actual Axis vs Allies fight.
The only downfall of the CT is the lack of numbers, which I can never figure out.  Does anyone know why CT numbers are so low?

some will say because they can't have huge numbers of spit, 51, la7, niki's.

some will say because you can't "win" the war - resets totally futz the setup requiring a manual fix of everything.

some will say because it's too far out of the comfort zone for the average lemming.

some will say it's because of the limited (or boring) planesets.

some will say because of the arena settings (dot and icon radar).

some will say it's because they might not truly be "aware" of it's existence - a little expeerumint is being done with banners.

some will say it's because #'s are so lopsided in favor of the perceived "better" plane side.

some will say low #'s begets low #'s. (this is probably the closest to the truth of the matter, combined with a mixture of the above).

in all honesty, CT is what helped me get better in a wider range of planes, particularly the the 109 series and the early jug.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

True, the low #'s begat low #'s.

That was why I didn't visit the CT until recently.

The limited plane sets almost makes it better.  You can fly an Early War Fighter without being jumped by the late war hotrods.

imo    pilots get discouraged, its not as easy to land kills and stay alive in ct due to plane sets and #'s.. i have to read up on the planes and really get to know what each one can do to even stand a chance..... which is why i fly the ct .. its a great place to learn how to fly....i would get discourged too if i upped in a plane ive never flown before and got picked apart by a couple of squaddies using good wingman tactics..which u dont see as much as u used too that is a bit dissapointing imo.. i would like to see more #'s with organized squad objectives in the ct myself it takes the "gamey" feel out of the game and makes it feel like a sim...and is alot of fun.....but doing stuff like that doesnt build up nice stats and a low rank which is a down side in the game  again my 2 cents   ............  cter's

I like this explaination best :D

Seriously tho, The skill level in the CT generally is higher than the vast majority in the MA with the exception of the newbie who gets lost coming out of the TA on his/her way to the MA.

The CT is better because it pits WWII planes against their natural opponents, in a historical setting – for the most part.

People like to be where the crowds are because they assume that everyone else really knows what’s best.
Often people will vote for candidates that they don’t like because they want to vote for what is popular.
The CT doesn’t have numbers partially for these same reasons.

The MA does have merits, and is probably a better place for most people.
I am convinced, however, that a many more people would be happier in the CT than the MA.  They just get stuck in a rut.  They may have tried the CT for a bit, but perhaps had trouble finding a fight or flying a plane that they didn’t know, and just gave up.

I’ve learned not to be concerned too much about the CT’s numbers.  I can only fight so many guys at once anyway.  I’m happier fighting the same few guys several times an hour than fighting against 100 different guys throughout a night (as in the MA).

I stop by the CT now and then, but with my limited flying time the single biggest annoyance to me is "dot chasing".  I absolutely hate chasing a dot only to find out 10 minutes on that I am chasing a countryman who is running from me.

I play to fight, if I wanted to fly I can do that off line or by FS2004.

Well if the CT is the Combat Theater, shouldn't the MA be the Furball Arena?:lol

I like the CT myself.  Even though sometimes if folks are all spread out it is hard to find a fight.  I'm just curious though are the damage % for aircraft being adjusted too in here?  Reason I ask is because I've hit some folks at times with 20mms and they just seem to keep flying.

I don't know if it's because of how low my ping rate is compared to others and I'm just seeing sprites that aren't actually hitting.  Gets frustrating when you get shots like that then go to the MA and find a similiar engagement with similiar aircraft and they seem to go down or take damage where as in the CT sometimes they don't.

I've never heard of the staff adjusting the damage of anything but the ack which is posted at .7 (MA being 1.0.  Even then I'm not sure if it's damage or accuracy of the ack that is changed).  It's possible that it's happened in the past but I haven't seen any discussion of it on the staff forums.
