How much fighter pilot AMBITION do you have?

Normally I'm happy to let people pound on  Beet1e.  It's not that I don't like the guy, I actually do.  It's just that since he is completely devoid of the ability to acknowledge when he has erred, I'm hesitant to pipe in even when he is right.

However, in this case Mars, I recall the encounter as follows:  I had been all the way over your base(past the main fight which was out over th ewater about half a sector from your base) and got forced out by a well flown lower enemy.  I couldn't get a bead on him after a couple of long minutes and eventually a high la7 wandered in and I was low on fuel... time to go. Might have even been you in the low plane.. 109? Anyway, the low bogie hung tough and w/ the high la7coming I headed home, over the water.
Beet was coming into the fray as I was trying to extract myself from the area.
There were multiple layers to this fight from the deck up to over say... 15k including at least one  high enemy 262.
Beet1e and I were at about 8k.  You were coming out of your base and you were lower... 4-5 k?  You had a friendly near you and at about your alt.  I dove down and popped your countryman, expending the last of my ammo.  As I pulled up/around a high 262 and a tiffie (I think it was a tiffie.. might have been a 190) came into the area from the direction I was trying to egress to.  Beet then dove on you and got you.  I called to Beet about the high bogies as they attacked  us.  Beet either got booted or killed because after managing to evade the tiffie I ended up being the only friendly in the immediate area.  Beet either got clipped or booted.

So it's true that Beet1e had alt/E on you.. there is no doubt.  OTOH it wasn't much of a perch  that he was on (all things considered).  While he delighted over Vox his kill of you, his celebration was cut short, whether by boot or tater guns I cannot say.

I'll pipe in for Beet...

We have run into eachother as opponents in AH.
He gave me the best I have ever received during my time here. Note that I didn't even kill him for that , he really went out of his way just to be nice. This kind of thing isn't too common.

Now you all may get back to throwing smack back and forth.

I commented on his MA conduct, not BBS habits.

Well thank you, Jodgi and Steve! Yes, I'm always ready with an for when someone kills me - which is often - lol. Steve, thanks for chiming in. My own recollection was jolted. I knew I wasn't near the deck, but I knew I wasn't on any 20K perch.  Takes too long in an F4U - lol. And I remember the multiple layers, but I can't even remember what Mars was flying. But if Steve was there and I was soon gone, I think it might have been the time I got the wrong end of a TYPH - thought I was in his 6 - found I was in his 12! Or maybe he reversed, I don't know.

Mars. No apology needed! :aok and  <-- the one I owed you

this is supposed to describe the AVERAGE AH pilot????  :rofl   Must be tongue-in-cheek.

I fly strictly for K/D, which is like a real pilot would do.

The scoring system is not set up to reward K/D per se, but to factor in other things.  So to be a "Top Gun" in AH, you have to game the game.

I just hate getting shot down, it means I screwed something up.  If you get on my 6 it is my fault, not my team mates for not giving me a check 6, if you HO me, it is my fault for not being aware of your intentions (SA), if ground ack gets me, it is my fault for flying low near ack.  etc etc.

Basically if you fly smart, you are a hard target, fly dumb and you die dumb :)

So I fly for me, to satisfy my needs for what I consider fun.  And as a AK, I fly Bish, which means your side is usually on the defensive, not good for K/D.

If you fly Bish, my call sign is AKff, if you fly any other county, !

N have fun, after all it is a game :)

real fighter pilots were bored most of the time.

I don't want to imitate that.

a lot of them couldn't but... what does that have to do with playing a game?  I am not here to pretend to be a fighter pilot.   I am here to have fun.   To me... lack of action means lack of fun when you are playing on a computer.

Real pilots contended with a lot of things besides combat that we don't... they also had more stimulation... just taking off and landing was risking your life.

Since the only real stimulation we get is the combat then I want as much as possible.
