Just curious. There are as many reasons to play this game as there are people playing it. Some play for score, some play to win the war, some like 1v1 fights, some like jabo and base capture, some like CV ops etc. Different skills are involved in each activity. But nearly all of us fly fighter planes every tour. So how good are we, and how good do we want to be? At one end of the scale, we have the pork-n-auger guys. They could learn all their skills at the Al Qa'eda Academy of Flight! Take offs and landings. Oh wait, they don't even do landings.

At the other end of the scale there are the fighter jocks. No name dropping or hero worship, but these are the guys who fine tune their sticks and make sure everything's dead right, practise in the DA, try their hand in duelling ladders...
And then there's the rest of us. On a scale of 0 to 10 Pork-n-Auger represents no ambition ie 0, and DA/duelling ladder enthusiasts have plenty so they get 10. How do you rate your
ambition? Note - not the same thing as skill.
I'll go first then. I enjoy CV ops, USN planes and jabo - plus of course the combat arising out of attempts to capture/defend bases. But I'm not much good in T&B planes and never really fly them. The F6F is about the best turner I ever fly. That and a goon. I rarely visit the DA. I have never been interested in duelling ladders.
The good thing about AH stats/scores is that there are so many ways to analyse how you're doing. I just try to keep as good a k/d as possible, and land all kills. That's about it. I give myself about a 6 on the ambition scale. Maybe a little either way. I'm happy to get by.
Now it's your turn! Where are you on the 0 <---> 10 scale of AH fighter pilot ambition?
