Varies. Most of my hobbies are one-time expenses.
Like flight simming. Initial investment of $2k for PC (which is used for things other than gaming) $250 or so for controllers (including a steering wheel for race sims) and games. $15 a month for AH. ($180 a year). Cable connection is $45 a month ($540 a year). So I figure $2,970 to start, maybe $1,360 a year*.
Scale models: About $10 a kit, $3 for a spray can of paint, $2 for brush paints, but a can/bottle of paint will cover about 4 to 7 models, maybe more depending on size. I'm guessing 100 kits and 100 paints. Total $1,250 in stuff, maybe $300 a year**.
Photography: for 35mm, about $900 worth of equipment (Pentax ZX-5n, a couple of consumer-grade zooms, a good 50mm lens), plus $10 for each roll of film (I get mine put on photo cd, plus prints). Haven't done my own developing since college. Now I just worry about getting the shot framed and in focus at the right time.

Total: $970, about $80 a year.***
Volleyball: $50 a month for gym fees ($600 a year), $60 for shoes, $20 for kneepads, $50 for an indoor ball, $50 for an outdoor ball. Shoes will last for a couple of years, same with kneepads. A ball will last 12 months, depending on use. Tournaments cost around $35 and I'll do 4 or 5 tournaments a year ($135). Leagues run about $50 per season and I'll do 3 or 4 leagues a year ($200). Total: $1,115 a year****.
Running: Shoes about $80 a year and I'll go through two pairs of shoes ($160). Races cost about $20 and I'll do 5 ($100). $260.
* = a computer will last for about 3 years before it becomes too slow. Controllers will last about 6 years.
** = I'm counting the number of unbuilt kits in my garage, not the number I build or buy every year. I probably finish about a dozen, maybe less, and buy more than I build.
*** = a camera will last me 10 years.
**** = shoes will last 2 years because they never see asphalt. I replace the sockliner insoles when the fabric pulls away from the foam.
