Someone is PORT SCANNING me. Are they (hackers) after my computer or they are going after the network that i'm connected to?

* pls note that i have a cable internet connection.

I have my firewall on. My Mc Afffe firewall just intecepted 10 SYN PORT SCAN ATTACKs!

Btw, WTF is a SYN PORT SCAN ATTACK???

if you get that message then your firewall is prolly blocking it just fine so you can just wait and it will stop soon.

hmmm i guess you have squirmed long enough.

Dont worry about it all thats doing is making you paranoid
You have a program "listening" on your port so anytime a scan is used wether legitamate or not your getting alerts.

Here's a simpler way of explaining it and if I'm wrong believe me skuzzy will pounce on me like a La7 on a slow stang

in startrek the Enterprise got "scanned" all the time that was cool they didnt get PO and raised shields till somebody targeted weapons. same thing here your firewall has detected a scan its just telling ya that your "port" has been scanned and your firewall has prolly automatically "blocked" anything else from that IP so dont freak till 5 klingons decloak arm weapons and tell ya to hand over all the chocolate:cool:

Theres really nothing to worry about port scans, it happens to all of us more or less.
Mostly the so called script kiddies are doing massive port scans on random IP's.
Pretty much only the systems in dangers are ones already infected through other ways or haven't been properly kept up to date.

I still get SYN Port Scan from Attackers and also NEWTEARS from my McAfee Firewall, I really have a feeling about this and I don't like it.

Look at it this way .
Someone Is knocking at you door.
your firwall Is your door.
If you have your firewall set up right they most likely they wont get In unless you open the door( Open A port).
So All you are seeing is someone knocking at your door man Not to worry you firewall is simply doing its job.
