Wazimada, no, although the Kurland map is presently in the Combat Theatre (and well worth a look!), this is a historical, limited life special event recreating the actual battle which took place in 1944/5. As such it will be held in the special events arena.

Gameplay is likely to be quite different from the Main. For more info see here:

That would be ... umm .... pretty much every unit. Heh.

I went ahead and signed. Waited to see where the flock would go first since I was prepared to fly either side. Flock went Luftwaffe. I'm a dedicated commie as a result. ;)

Gimmee a trial account and I'll join up for the VVS in a heart beat! (eyes glaze over remembering the destructive power of  the 9T...the speed and agility of the 9U...)

But . wow. I mean yowza!  :(   The sign up numbers are incredibly low (IMO).  Need 230 odd particpants but only 90 have signed up? And while it looks like a fun setup the Allies (with the best fighters) only have 35 out of the 152 needed.  That's a mere 20%.  I can't imagine how bad it would be on frame day with the usual no show problem....g'luck. Have the scenario minded types left AH left? The "cowd" that used to fill the ranks for both sides seems to have disappeared)

Maybe fester's map sucked them into the MA? :D

I've only been playing for 5 months, so i've not felt confident enough to try it. Maybe this is a good opportunity to sign up.

I don’t know where they all went. If folks see this event as a repeat of Niemen we have and are making changes.

IMHO Niemen was great fun. I understand some allied players were put off over some of the scorched earth tactics and other settings.

We haven't finalized everything but this event is designed for combat. Hangers, bunkers and barrack will have the highest hardness settings. If you remember Niemen, the axis could fall back destroying its own bridges and hangers stopping the Allies from advancing. We wont allow that. For one side to stop the other it’s going to take more then blowing up a net hut.

There 3 aspects to this event.

1. Strategic Bombing - small scale but still important. The allies need to bomb the Axis 2 main ports every frame.

2. Land Grab - The allies must capture a minimum number of bases per frame.

3. Loss ratio - The Axis need to kill the allies almost 3 to 1 to win this.

The equation is as follows:

Allied losses - 10% of the total number of allied players / Axis losses

The Axis will be awarded this Victory Point if their ratio of losses is higher than the ratio of Axis players

For example the event is designed with the following numbers:

152 Allied players

80 Axis players

Ratio = 1.9 Allies: 1 Axis

10% of 152 = 15

If the Allies have 45 losses then we then subtract 10% (15) from 45.

45 - 15 = 30

For the Axis to win this point they must have less than 16 (15 or less) losses.

Lets say the Axis losses are 15 in the frame.

30 / 15 = 2

2 is greater then 1.9 so the axis win the point.

So in fact the real ratio would be 2.8 to 1 before we subtract the 10%.

The equation is flexible and will slide to match whatever the true ratio is.

For example if only 100 allies show up and 75 axis

100 / 75 = 1.3

Allied losses are 30, subtract 10% of 100 30 -10 = 20

Axis losses are 16; 20 / 16 = 1.25

1.3 is greater then 1.25. In this case it would be a draw.

The allied win the point if the kill more Axis then they have losses.

My point is that suicide tactics against inanimate objects is not what this event is about.

We have a custom map and custom aircraft skins. The map is laid out differently then any other.

I ma not sure why folks aren’t interested but we are have worked hard to make what we think will be a fun event.

All are welcome Newguy or Vet.

The Yak9U is a hotrod. I'd sign up in a heartbeat but I'll be out just about every weekend in May.
