"Soldner"

Worst. Demo. Ever.

Why cant software companies release games anymore that arent completely unplayable pieces of ****?

I thought the BF:V release was premature... Soldner makes the Battlefield series look like Halflife after 3 years of improvement.

IF you can download a working exe...

IF you can setup a new account...

IF you can find a server...

IF you can join said server...

You are met with what is quite possibly the worst "Beta Demo" ever released to the public. An outstanding concept (BF meets OFP) hyped up and never delivered.

It pains me to see these great game concepts wasted because no one can make the friggen game. The dressup Barbie 'customize your soldier' bit is the best part... if you can figure out how to play the game you wont last beyond 30 seconds without shutting it off. Worst POS ever... FPS developers need to take a lesson from Half Life and get their **** together. I could code a better game than this and I dont even know wTF 110101110 means.

Great screenies and some info here... but dont even bother downloading the game... looks awesome - isnt worth the hard disk space.

I would have posted this on their foums, but apparently the registration process is about as bug free as the game.

I think JoWood is under a lot of pressure to get this out because it has been in development for awhile now. Obviously with the recent studio acquisitions, the pressure to release Soldner now was too great. It's a shame really and you're right, game developers should take the time to release a game that doesn't require immediate patching. Unfortunately the company I work for has been guilty of this with some of our games.

It's also a trend we're not likely to see end soon, not with the current market trend.

"The Soldner team is well aware that many of you have been experiencing a myriad of problems installing the beta demo and getting onto the servers to play. Rest assured, we hear you. We are working hard to address and resolve these issues quickly, so you can get up and playing as soon as possible."

JoWood regularly releases crap products. Just look at Railroad Pioneer released last month. (Although I must say I am looking forward to Transport Giant.)

Soldner is a game to watch, based on my download of the beta demo on 06/25/04. Maybe in a couple months you guys will like it better.

Been playing for hours - excellent replay qualities. The weapons are pretty cool too. I've had periodic lockups, but thats all. This game shows a LOT of promise in my humble opinion, especially if you liked Vietcong Fist Alpha, Delta Force etc....

That happened when I posted the "Mickey Mouse flippin the Bird" at those guys from WB coming into our BBS talking chit...

Told them everything was just Disney on what they were saying and added a pic of Mickey flippin them off....
