Well, we got a single mag with our 1911.  It worked decently.  A few jams here and there.  Then we got two mags at a gunshow for 20 bucks.  Biggest pieces of crap I have ever seen.

Then we bought a 30 dollar wilson Magazine.  It hasn't had one problem yet.

No, haven't really had the need for more then 2 mags.  The only gun I would carry is a S&W police .38 Special.

It's an OK 1911 to start with, but a little too cheap to rely on.

184.. why would you limit yourself to a 38 special?   what kind of 1911 do you have?  I really trust my cut and melted Ruger Redhawk in 44 mag.

Have four of em... cheap and easy to reload for and any level of power one might need in a handgun.. accurate and controllable... reliable... a tad bulky but the cut down Ruger is managable.   Allways fun to shoot.

Lazs, it's a real cheapo from Century Arms.  Just something to have fun with.

However, the .38 special will fire everytime there's a bullet in the chamber.  That's why it's used more for us.

a squib load will make a revolver inopperable.   I trust revolvers but anything can happen..   modern semi autos in good condition are pretty darned reliable as is modern ammo.

I can't say enough good things about Wilson mags.    Thoroughly reliable and very high quality.

CM's on the other hand have let me down time and time again.  The CM's were packaged with my 1911 and their use actually made the weapon finicky for certain types of ammunition.  I bought the Wilson's based on advice from the 1911 newsgroup and all feed problems went away.

My only complaint about semi's, is that no matter how expensive a magazine is, if it sits around for a long time and the magazine is loaded, there is potential for the spring to freeze up and jam the weapon.

Unlikely, and a good hard blow to the magazine or the side of the gun would unjam it.  But it still would be VERY bad in most cases.

Any magazine spring will wear out if left loaded for an extended period of time.  That's why you have to rotate your duty mags.  I have never had a problem with the factory Colt mags, either for the Govt/Commander models or the Officer model.

Lazs, this isn't some 2000 dollar kimber we're talking about.

It's a 250 dollar imported phillipino gun.  We got it just for the sake of having it.
