This is what I'm talking about, Nate.
Pic1

The upper part of the pic1, is the AH F-4. The under part of pic1 is the AH G-10. Highlighted in red, is the distinct "bulge" of later Bf109s with larger superchargers which, IMO shouldn't manifest in Bf109F-4, G-2 and the G-6.
This bulge, is more clearly demonstrated by the following line drawing of a Bf109G-10.
Pic2

....
Pic3:Bf109G-6 with DB605A

Pic4:Bf109G-10 with DB605D

Now, Pictures 3 and 4 show why the earlier models don't manifest those bulges, while later 109s do. Note the large curved engine bearer wrapping the circular superchargers.
(refrence from:
Identifying DB605AS vs DB60D-engined aircraft .. while the website is oriented towards identifying the difference between DB605AS and DB605D engined aircraft which had a very simular "bulge" at the cowling, the picture shown there demonstrates the difference between a normal DB605A and a DB605D )
Pic5

The above pic is a Bf109F in trop configuration, WNr.31010(presumed). Highlighted in red is the cowl line, which, as you can see is pretty much straight.

If I'm wrong, anybody please correct me, but from what I know, the '41 F-4, '42 G-2, and our '43 G-6 shouldn't have that "bulge" in the cowling line.
I'm not talking about the "wart" on the G-6 which accounts for the larger MG131 mountings. Note that our G-6 has both the supercharger bulge AND the MG131 "wart". IIRC, any later G-6 which was equipped with an AS engine would have also installed the new type of cowling which distinctly showed off the bulged area. The AH G-6 is a first time I've ever seen any Bf109 which has both the supercharger bulge and the MG131 wart!
The protruded bulge at the upper cowling line should only be present at the G-10. (or, any other future planned late-war Bf109s with DB605AS engines such as the G-6/AS or G-14/ASM.. or DB605D aircraft such as the Bf109K-4)
