My gamble:

Let me see if I got you right here.  When you say "high right" I assume he's pulling his "high right"?  If that's the case, I'd prolly go my high left to meet him and see who stalls first  ...I'm betting the torque will getm otherwise he's gotta throttle back to control the torque in which case you'll win the merge.

On the other hand, if he pulls his high left, then you got a problem if you don't do easy (extended) immel.

In anycase, I reckon you're unlikely to meet many 109 pilots you couldn't take care of.

P 51D right now outdives my 109, unloaded or not.

Greater plane weight and better aerodynamics seem more important than engine power. Also, lighter plane can't pick up speed as fast as heavy plane in dives.

The usual scenario is:

1. get on P 51 six position, some d5, moderate closure
2. he rolls over and hits for the deck
3. he is away, no matter what I do to follow down

Some come back for HO, some dive home.

The only thing a 109 pilot has to worry about with runstangs, these days, is being gang banged. You,ll notice that you never see the better ones flying alone.

1v1, any luft wobbel pilot worth his sault should turn that shiny holleywood prop into beer tabs. When they do the - dive and run -just fly with your trim tabs, not your stick. If you got e, they will die.

TT - even if you do "fly on trim", the Pony should still get away - after all he can "fly on trim" too, if it gets that bad for him.

If only compression(aka "mach effect") was modelled(not just increasing stick forces), the Spitfire would become the "extreme diving" king.

If he dives to friendlies, you both will be near his back field low and slow by time you catch him (usually due to 10 minutes of WEP).

But if he dives in wrong direction....well
