Formula 1 anyone still watching?
« on: April 25, 2004, 05:08:08 PM »
Even though I've always been heavily involved in bikes and bike racing I still use to enjoy watching the circus of F1 and following a season through to the end.

However once again for another year it seems to be just another procession of follow the leader.  All credit to Ferrari and Schumacher as a team. But for spectators even with the rule changes and attempts to make the racing closer It seems as if this year is going to be another year of Ferrari dominance, with the only close racing between 5th and 6th even though they are a lap or more back from the lead..

Compared to the GP bikes where the lead changes every corner and you can throw a blanket over 10 riders at the finish. Or just about any other motorsport it really is starting to lose alot of interest.

I watched the first 10 laps then fast forwarded to the end.  MS' double-block and ram on the first lap was ridiculous.  Once again it's clear that there are two sets of rules in F1, one for MS, and one for the rest of the field.

Me either.  I still keep up with the news but haven't watched a race in a while.

Who would have thought that the pre-race ceremonies would be more interesting than the race itself?

F1 is over at the first turn .. no passing .. boring.  They need to make things more level and competitive for the rest of the field.

NASCAR has passing (overtaking for the F1 crowd) and close finishes.  That's what I'm watching for....

I'de watch the bikes before cars. I used to watch them years ago, the old malboro yamaha team was my favorite.

I honestly cant understand the mentality of the NASCAR fan.  I mean, sure its 'racing' (all jokes aside) but how can one be bored by a 90 minute race at Imola and stay tuned to watch hours and hours of left turns with the occassional wreck?

Schuey was defending his line/place.

I don't see Montoya being particulary upset that he slammed the door on Ralf and put him into the grass

lol, again Schumi to fast for the rest, now blame him :D

One day he will retire and then we will have our 53 lead changes, maybe ;)
I hope that Schumi win all 17 Races this year! :aok

This one was better than Bahrain. Best part of it was that there was some focus on Trullis girlfriend (think it was his)...she was HOT :aok

F1 needs worse brakes, more pit stops and a few more standard items for all teams to cut down the cost or running a competitive team. The new rules that are beeing discussed for the 2008 season and beyond looks good.

Maybe, for us spectators it would really be an improvement, bring in a touch of NASCAR, so to speak. OTOH it would seriously diminish the F1's appeal to car manufacturers since it would lose its image of a high-tech showcase...

Hope they'll come to an acceptable consensus

I race amoebas down test tubes, and there are NO turns, and best of all 532x10^61 lead changes at the end of the race.

rivetting stuff.
