Note the refusal to recuse himself on the Cheney case as well.

"Hunting in the South is what a cocktail party is in Washington."

lol, now we know why when both parties get together all hell breaks lose, what a combination, hunting and cocktails, yeeehawww!

Last January, Scalia flew aboard Air Force Two with Cheney to hunt ducks in south Louisiana.

What did they do, suck them up in the turbines?

jeepers curly your on a roll.  I chum it up to the elite class.  Our government has become so tied into wealth that only the wealthy can participate.  people get rediculous trying to label these bahviors to party affiliation.

its the government elite and chances are your not one of them.

Just look at kerry and all his wealth.  The guy is corrupt before he wakes up each morning.

Is being wealthy a prerequisite to being corrupt?  It seems to me that the people most obscessed with money are the ones that "ain'ts gots none braw"  money is a tool and a medium of exchange.  nothing more and nothing less.  the most corrupt people I have ever dealt with are the ones trying to make money fast and in any way.  these are usually poor as well.  Let's not hold the financial success of anyone against them.  If we use money as measure of points scored then these guys are the heads of winning teams (their families).

I agree, Yeager - Our government has become so tied into wealth that only the wealthy can participate.

Yeager, not that it matters, but I'm not pro kerry - I just don't want a president who's dumb as a sack full of hammers.  Hell Yeager, I'm probably more conservative than you are -- but being conservative doesn't mean you have to be dumb.

My grandparents came to Texas and then to Oklahoma in covered wagons (no kidding.)  They had many homilies which have been amazingly accurate for me over the years.

In Bushes case, the appropriate homily is "if you want to know about a man, look at the friends he chooses."  [By the way, this isn't true for females ... weird]

This is not true, quite the reverse, in fact, although money does still count, at least now there is some transparency.

Tammany, Teapot Dome, and the fact that persons other than white male landowners are able to vote would be good places for you to begin your education.

BS BS  BS  BS  BS

My favorite example is Bill Clinton who grew up quite poor. Same with Colin Powell...  Arguably the 2 most popular politiciams in the USA...

So once again BS.  Go bark up another tree...

You familiar with the phrase "Good old boy?"  It's natural to do favors for your friends.  Any jurist with a modicum of good sense would recuse himself from any case in which he is friends with the accused.

That a supreme court jurist is so out of touch, well, either he doesn't care or he's arrogant and thinks he untouchable, but I'm repeating myself.

How about this lasersailor.  Suppose you have a daughter and she's raped by a young man.  Would you object to her father being the judge?

In the Scalia/Cheney case, we're talking about something much more emotional (to that group) than a young womans virtue - we're talking big bucks and the keys to the throne room.

Whats the average cost to make a run for federal seat in congress?  the senate? The presidency?  Without tens of millions of dollars the average person living in america cannot hope to participate without the aid of wealthy people/corporations.

Grun, while Clinton isn't wealthy on the scale of Kerry's wife, he isn't poor (and hasn't been for years.)

Concerning Colin Powell, can you tell me the political office he ran for?  He holds no elective office nor (so far as I know) has ever held one.
