Spit V vs. Everything....

I don't fly the spits much but...

I love to see em...  When you see spits you know there is a fight... when you see peeee 51's or deeee9's pr geee10's you know that there will be no fun to be had.

sooo... spits mean... area full of fun fights...

late war fast planes mean... no fights other than dodge ball or chase the runner.

small maps or cv with spits around... lots of fun...

peeeee 51's and pizza map..... enemies of fun.

If you consider the spit5 a dweeb plane, then the hurcIIc must be included. It's your money, fly what you like, if someone calls you a dweeb, shoot them down again....in a spit5! Do not let the arrogance of the main dictate what you fly, if you have fun in the spit5, then by all means fly it, have fun, it's just a game. If you get tired of hearing someone whine, squelch him.

Obviously the rounds fired that do not hit the target continue to travel, and might hit another target beyond the first one. Cannon rounds being heavier and with a lower muzzle velocity would not fly as well as the .50 cal rounds of the P51. One of the reasons I like the F4U1D is because the 50s fly better, and the gunsight is high - great combo for deflection shots.

But there is the matter of dispersion. If convergence is at 250 yards then it follows that after 250yds the rounds will be diverging. At 1000yds, the rounds would be dispersed over a wide area. I've no doubt that there could be some "lucky hits" at those ranges, but the heavier the round the sooner the kinetic energy would be spent, and the damage caused would be much less.

So whereas we read of some hits at long ranges, those accounts are rare. I have never seen an account of a wing being sheared off at that range, and certainly not as a matter of routine as is the case in AH.

I wish i could get levi in the da. He taught me  a couple spit 5 moves one night after i engaged him 4 seperate times. I only beat him once but I learned what i call the double immelman. Spit 5 does it incredibly well and will leave your furballin victim floating around with no airspeed looking franticaly out the cockpit. Thanx Levi :)

Hiya Jaxxo......Levi as whippppppped me many times in that spit 5. Main reason I got to flying it is the way he whipped me so fast. He is really goood in it.

I love flying it now. Lots of fun. No running..Not many B&Z's in it either. (a couple or 3 times is about it)

Just a blast.:D
