What a contrast between the characters of both men. One man stood up and served his country, then came home and tried to end what he believed was an immoral war. After that he went on to be elected to Congress. The other guy.. he stay drunk for 23 years.
What Moveon could’ve added was the notation on the applications of both men.. Bush checked off no.. he did not want to serve in Nam.. Kerry checked off yes.. he would volunteer for service in Viet Nam. That’s very telling.
What galls me is this administration pattern of denigrating the character of veterans. They did it to John McCain, Max Cleland and now John Kerry. And with the exception of Powell, not one of the president’s lieutenants ever even served in uniform, much less combat. And they’re going to question the service record of a guy from thirty years ago?
For the life of me I can’t understand what you guys see in Dubya.. Must be a tribal thing.. I swear if Bush shot a guy dead in the oval office.. y’all would say “thank God our wonderful president (and his lovely family) was able to shoot that terrorist in time”
How does one go about defending Bush’s record?.. the loss of two million jobs, a half a trillion dollar deficit, manipulating intelligence to get us into a war... not out of a war... into one on purpose?... The answer of course is you can’t.. All you can do is define the other guy as being even worse than our guy. If that’s even possible.
Strk.. did you mention Tom Delay?... Tom’s excuse was.. he really wanted to serve, but the minorities took up all the slots.
