Revells.

Good point, and your right about it being pretty.

Still I think when Hitech has talked about how they get there flight models it seems more accurate the olegs using Russian data only.

Not that I have kept track but he seemed to base his flight models on old soviet propaganda and not real data from the planes. So all the russian stuff was way better then the german stuff..

Again I never looked into i t much but that was what I was hearing on the few threads I read about it.

bingo. And when the german stuff ,even while badly modelled because dubvious sources, kicks some ar$e in the game, they cut it off even more. For what I've heard from beta testers, the new patch they're getting ready will get the Fw190 totally gutted because the "soviet" pilots can't stand it even in it's currently porked state.

So, to old soviet propaganda, they add "gameplay" tuning. in the end what they get is a total rubbish game, which Oleg still has the guts to say its "as realistic as it can be done in a PC".
That's why I won't spend a single cent of my money on another of his productions.

Hiya Ravs,

I think that last screenie you posted is from some upcoming arcade game which at least has "Midway" on its name...the whole name didn't stay in my mind.

This is view system is being reviewed... perhaps not in time for PF, but I heard a rumour that Oleg is looking at other possibilties

hiya Wmaker!

Could be. I got it from the PF bbs, but someone may have been posting that pic as a comparison or something.

If it's received wisdom that the flight model has been 'biased' towards soviet aircraft, then that's a real pity. To have come so far in making a flight sim and then throwing it away over something so trivial is just a damn pity.

the view is my only real compalint,  I don't think we need a full 360 view, but at the minimum the ability to shift your head a bit to look around cockpit obstructions.

on one of the plains the stick obscures a few guages, with the current view you have to pull the stick all the way back to read the guage, would be nice if you could just shift your view and look around it.

That's one of my major complaints as well, Cap. You can't see the compass in the spit because it's obstructed by something and you can't move your 'head' up and down like in AH.

Aces High having the movable head has ruined  all other flight sims that do not have it for me.

Their is no justification for not allowing it either.

Yea, they were just raving about the graphics. ;)

I've been flying FB some on our association's servers (Virtualpilots 1 and 2 in Hyperlobby). It is very nice to fly out of Kymi, our squadron's historical base, to intercept soviets over the Gulf of Finland. :) The problem has been my puter. I'm gonna upgrade it this summer so FB should run better.

The second server might still be down but it has a nice early Continuation War setup with early Tsaikas, Ratas and Migs against Brewsters, Fiats and Gladiators. Very enjoyable setup as well!

Come to check them out sometimes! :)

Btw, thanks again for Mr. Southwood's lecture. Very enjoyable and educative reading!
