what's that, the new Oleg's aerial shooting game?.

after purchasing Il-2, seeing Oleg's attitude towards evident errors in his game's flight models (and engine models, some damage models, etc etc etc),  and watching the nonsense the Il2Compare shows as the performances of FB planes, I'd rather go and play Pong. It may be less "immersive"...

but for sure will be more "realistic". As sad as it may sound.

First time I think I've seen a plane shadow AND water reflection. Wish I was born 50 years from now.

Olegs team doing the graphics and HT flight engine.. sound good anyone?

680Mb download.. pfft who cares. :rofl

It would be like going back to WB times with different detail level downloads, except this time the max settings will be on crack.

what is "Pacific Fighters"?  An add-on or is it a new game?

It's an add on to IL-2 Forgotten Battles. Superb graphics (as you can see) in that game. The flight model is very different to AH (much harder IMO) and there is a lot more flight management (e.g. engine overheating, trim, etc). Used with Track IR, the results are utterly immersive.

I liked the way IL2 looked but I despised the play.

It felt like all the planes could barely fly.

I also think the Oleg guy is more like Borada then a reasonable person should be.

Is this done by a different team then IL2 but using the engine?

Gator, not actually being a pilot, I have no idea which of the flight models out there most accurately reflects the real thing.  I find that in IL2 planes are more likely to go into spins and don't have as much 'oomph'

No, there was a third party group that developed one of the add on packs, but I think this one is official.

Had a quick look at the UBI soft site and it says the game is coming out this Autumn. Can't remember if it said it would be a stand alone or an add on though. Just assumed the latter.

the performances don't. I can't understand how Il2compare was released to the public, as it clearly shows the depth of the errors made in this department by Oleg&his team. There are some things that will make your mind go cracy. Like why does the A4 run 35km/h less on the deck than the Fw190A5 with just 20hp less of power. Or why does the late Fw190D9 have a global WORSE performance than the non-late Fw190D9...

and that are just some examples with the german planes. if you go into the russian stuff...well...

about the only thing I think Oleg got right in his sim (graphics apart) is the ballistics model and the Damage model concept (only the concept, its aplication is quite bugged). If AH had the ballistics model and a good version of Il-2's damage model there would be no more tails ripped with 2 pings at 700 yards and would be harder to score a kill (like it should be IMO). But other than that AH is way over Il2 or FB.
