I got turned onto the eagles when I was a teenager in the mid 90s. They released their reunion album (cant remember the actual title) Had alot of there classics that they recorded LIVE. Was a GREAT ALBUM. Not just a few hits the entire album was good.

In 1975, I bought my very first 8-track tape, the Eagles Greatest 71-75. I was thirteen. I wore out two of those and another cassette before compact discs.

Hotel California and the Long Run are good, but my favorite album is "One of These Nights".

My 1st 8-track was a solo work by Rick Wakeman. I actually had an 8-track recorder for my stereo system. (I'm slightly older than you Sandman)

I still think Jackson Browne is the greatest songwriter of his time.

New bands you might like are Train, Nickleback, Three Doors Down, Matchbox 20.

No kidding. Jackson Browne is excellent.

I was watching one of the freeview things on DirecTV of Train. They've got talent, but I enjoyed their covers of Led Zeppelin far more than their own original stuff. I like Matchbox 20, but I can't stand any of the clones that came out of the woodwork when they hit it... 3 Doors Down comes to mind.

I have to agree with Nash that there is some great stuff coming all the time. The problem is finding it. When I was growing up in San Diego, the local alternative station (91X) would play some great music. Late at night (after midnight), they were playing new stuff that was cutting edge for the time (late 80s-early 90s) plus some great stuff from the past. However, they have been taken over by the same disease that ruined KROQ here in LA. Hell, KROQ doesn't even have Rodney on the Rock anymore (at least not that I have been able to find). The good thing is that one of the pop/dance stations switched formats at the new year and became a "indie" station. They still play some mainstream alternative stuff, but their rotation includes stuff that you won't here on KROQ for another year. I think it is FM 103.1.

I was stationed in San Diego during the 80's. I loved 91X. What a great station it was.

speaking of radio stations. what does it take to get a radio station to understand that just because a song is 15,20 or more years old, doesn't make it classic rock, it should also have to be a good song.

last month I actually heard Air Supply on a classic rock station.

Yup. I don't even listen to the radio anymnore. well, not FM radio...I saw the eagles in Boston a few years back, haven't lost a thing.

Same with Fleetwood Mac when they did that reunion tour a few yares ago. They sounded better than the recorded versions most of the time.

Hey Sand, I didn't mean to bag on the Eagles...actually their 1st Greatest Hits is a pretty much great straight through album to listen too, especially on the road like you said.
