I consider protracted deliberate cheating the actions of someone who is lacking in morals. Any moral person would not even consider cheating. I do not consider cheating 'goofy' behavior. Do you consider a baseball player using a corked bat to pad his stats just a 'goofy' guy?

Of course.  Baseball doesn't matter.  It's just another goofy game.

I think the millions of baseball fans buying tickets to see what they believed was a fair game would disagree with you. Just like most of us paying 15 bucks a month for a fair game of Aces High would....

I personally think Hitech would be thrilled to death if everybody bought a second account and spent the whole month vulching it.  He'd be making twice as much money as he is now.

By the way Zazen... you take rank a little to seriously I think.  Fighter rank (overall) isn't a very good indication of how "good" someone is.

Take NathDBP, his stats suck.  They are absolutely horrible.  But in a 1v1, he'll kick your ass.  He is good.  He just doesn't care if he dies or not, so he usually has very low stats.

On the other hand, my stats are quite good, and I'm a pretty good stick in a 1v1.  Nath is a little better, in my opinion.  In his opinion he is God's gift to AH, but that is niether here nor there.  But the point is you'd never know it by looking at the "ranks".

People know who the good fighter pilots are, rank or no rank.

Rank is part of the game.

To my knowledge we have never fought 1 vs. 1 or otherwise so you really have no idea of my relative skill level, suffice it to say some people who do like to maintain a nice fighter rank also happen to be very highly skilled. Whether rank means anything to you or Nath or not is inconsequential. Someone who cheats in the game in order to achieve anything illegally is hurting everyone directly or indirectly. To deny this is incredibly niave and short-sighted.

The point is not the meaning of rank per se, it is that people who cheat compromise the integrity of the game...period. While I have no doubt HiTech is concerned with making money I also have no doubt he is not willing to forsake the integrity and quite possibly the long-term viability of his brain child for the sake of a few extra bucks....

You use the words cheat and illegal.

Where is the rule stating vultching a second account is cheating?  What statute is being broken?

HTC has always had a general policy against collusion. Collusion between players from different countries (in-game), whether it be the same person with two identities or two seperate individuals is considered 'cheating' by HiTech creations. Obviously, under most circumstances this is incredibly hard to prove, except if the perpetrator is incredibly stupid as is the case with JB77.

Players have been temporarily and permanently banned for collusion in the past. A good example of this anti-collusion stance by HiTech Creations is found under the shootout rules under "Contest Rules" on the Home Page. Imagine if JB77 had won the money for the Shootout Contest based on his vulching his other account? That is just a great example of why collusion cannot be tolerated....

Could you point me towards that policy?  I don't recall ever seeing it or hearing about it before.

The contest was a "special case"... in general there is no policy that I am aware of for that sort of thing.

Furious...

I believe it will fall under this one...

"11.  Subscribers are expressly prohibited from engaging in any activity that constitutes, in the sole opinion of HiTech Creations, system abuse.  System abuse shall include, but is not limited to, ..."

Nice open ended statement, covering a multitude of sins :).

Lotsa legitimate points here!

I understand where you are coming from Zazen, putting some value in the top 100 and trying to legitimately get in there or get as high up as you can. I think it is a measure of skill, upping, getting kills and landing them is sort of the whole loop of things.

However, "anything goes" is sort of the accepted deal now and there is a certain amount of validity to that as well. If that will that devalue the game, only time will tell. For the average player, I think probably not.

Zazen, I think you can find some comfort in that the vast majority of the player base doesn't alter their score artificially by vulching ghosts. Now I know that sucks if you are ranked #101, but still the overall rankings aren't going to be skewed by very much at all, I don't believe, because not many people do this activity.
