Forget that, I'm ALL OVER Universal's U-571.  Sub movies are the best

Next to airplane movies, of course

Something tells me that somehow, someway, Disney will get this movie politically corrected to the point where it will distort history, for a political cause...call me paranoid, but just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean I shouldn't be

I don't trust Hollywood, nor do I trust Disney.

Hello,

The newspaper item I read this morning said the movie would center on two fighter jocks who fall for the same nurse.

Knowing disney, mickey and all those other goofey executives, I am not, repeat not holding my breath for this ....

They probably have those jock flying F6Fs or P-38s.  Which as you know is historically accurate.

This isn't a joke, but it is funny as hell. I use my real last name in my e-mail addy.  You'll have to do a little investigation to figure out just what it is.  In my life, I've gotten off pretty easy... my father on the other hand:

He was a "sea man"
His first name is "Dick"

Maybe this explains one of the most laid back attitudes I've seen.

I hope they get the airplanes right, seeing that T-6 "strafing" the beach in "The Thin Red Line" was pretty cheesy

If you are interested in Pearl Harbor history then read a book called "DAY of Deceit by Robert Stinnett.   Then you will know why hollywood wants to be politically correct.

BBGUN: did it read anything like this?:
 http://cnn.com/2000/ASIANOW/east/01/23/nanking.protests.ap/index.html

One would understand why Roosevelt had his secret agenda after the 1937 atrocities that Japan had commited.  He should have taken a step further, and brought the war to Japan, rather than wait for ambush.

Anyway, back to the thread, I bought Saving Private Ryan, and I think thats a great flick .

Ripsnort,
I wouldn't be to upset with old FDR. He did everything he could to get people to pay attention to Nazi Germany and Japan. But there were to many Charles Lindberg type isolationist out for his neck. You can blame Congress and the American people. Edward R. Murrow was on the radio every night broadcasting the bombing of London and still nobody cared until we got hit. He also didn't tell the base commander to park his airplanes in neat little rows along the runway either. Lets face it. If Hitler hadn't attacked our shipping and the Japanese hadn't bombed pearl harbor we probably wouldn't be playing this game right now.

One of the things my company does is produce some of the neat gizmos yah see in the movies and on TV. My favorite movie project was Flight of the Intruder...  and those A6A's looked real to me; and I knew better.

Stop by an R/C Field sometime. Giant scale (1/4 scale) model aircraft can be awsomely convincing.. the goose pimples will sprout all over..

Models CAN be used; and they look a heluva lot better than an AT6 "Hollywood Zero".

Hope they get it right!

PS: re; Saving Private Ryan.. The scene when the rain stops.. the last stand at the bridge; Tom Hanks hittin that Panzer with his .45; and then it blows. The stunned look on his face.. then the Mustang roars over... that scene had me RIGHT outta my chair! And THAT was a 1/4 scale model.

Well, if it is as good as thin red line...I will stay home and play AH instead, trust me...

But....let's not be "continental" and let's be positive, Disney did give us "Bamby" right ?

Ya got that right Hang,

Quick horror story. We were getting noise complaints at one of the local feilds from a guy that lived a mile away. One of the members was flying a 1/4 scale Stang w/o a muffler, when this fella came by to complain(which I feel he had every right to). Well the next thing ya know this guy waited for the stang to go in a dive and reached over and cut off the radio. WHOOOOP... silence!

Now while Ill agree that the love muffin flying the stang putting our feild in jepordy got what he deserved, that wasnt the way to handle the situation.

For me it was Tom Hanks expression,

That look of,

Holy S#!+ I just destroyed a tank with a 45, no one will ever believe me, I don't believe it."

The Pony was through the Scene too quick for my Taste.

LOL Camel.. yah the hobby nowadays seems to be sprouting a**holes like mushrooms from goat turds since ARF's arrived.

I set up a slick little 1/12 scale stang with electrics about 8 years ago to fly from schoolyards and stuff (still flyin it too!) and got the best compliment an electric R/C pilot can ever get when I took it to a local 'gas' field..

"What kinda tuned pipe yah got in that thing anyway?"
