It sounds like a problem with the motherborad. The sound chp might be defective or dirty. It can be all kinds of thing. What I recommend doing is taking the board back to the dealer and see if they can find out what it is. If Windows doesn't recognize it...then it's probably your sound chip that's defective. You might also try and see if you can get a new one...just in case.

Cc that is what I will do. I know it wont be a problem. If they get it working, great. If they don't, a new MoBo will be in my computer (with a proper soundcard attached to a PCI port, BTW   )

Thanks all for your help

Anyway if someone has more ideas, please keep them coming. they will be appreciated.

Um, don't say "FEAR ME" after saying your Mommy bought you a motherboard. It takes all the bad-ass meaness out of the threat.

Hey RAM taking out the MB will be a lot of work, putting it in again will be too and you cant be sure it will solve your problem. What would I do? I would go down to my local store and buy a good but cheap soundcard. I dunno how much it will be in Spain but jump on your bicycle and come to Aarhus in Denmark You can buy a Soundblaster 128 for 20$ or a SB live for a bit more. But thats my suggestion offcourse, I would gladly pay 20$ to avoid unmounting / mounting a motherboard (done it so many times in my life I dont find it funny anymore)

creamo...I didnt expect it to happen, but they wanted to compensate me for...well for something that happened, nothing to be told here.

Yes, my mommy bought me a motherboard. Thanks god, because if she hadn't done it I would be stuck with my damned PII 333 forever, with no chance to put a decent video card on it (MoBo couldnt handle anything better than my banshee). I have no problems with it, I could not afford one new. If I could, then they won't have helped me (and I doubt I had accepted the help anyway).

Grinbird, I also thought about it...but as I said, I dont like to spend money if I dont have to, and to spend money on paying a new sound card because the motherboard I just bought is defective. If I have a defectuous hardware bought I give it back. I dont mind to unplug the MoBo (believe me,takes 20 minutes, nothing more) and get a new one. but I wont keep a defectuous thing if I have payed for a good one.

and yes, SoundBLaster16 is here worth 2500 pesetas (Some 14$

Renfield I'm using Aopen AX6B MoBo and I'm fully satisfied (Could be even more If I only could buy 1gigs sdram  ).
Obviliously you know a lot of Aopens boards so maybe you could tell if my mobo sucks too?
This one could be nice Aopen mobo

btw: You're first guy I see nagging here when some of us asks some tips? even Creamo tried to help but not you?

Staga   So far the only thing concerning me is the sound thing, and I am sure that there is something stupid that requires only 1 minute to fix it...in the shop they will fix it I'm sure

Other than that the MB is a beauty and I am quite happy with it...other than the sound card I had no other problems...

And SB16s are cheap

Ignore renfield, he is only a poor lonely prettythang...
