Voice problem/ SB Audigy ?
« on: May 24, 2004, 12:00:29 PM »
Loaded AHII last night and it looks great. But I can't hear anything on vox.People hear me just fine, but I can't hear them. All other sounds in game are fine.

Vox works fine in AHI though.

Using a Soundblaster Audigy LS soundcard.

I have all the latest video,sound,dx9 drivers.Although the latest driver for the Audigy LS is vers.5.121.21, and signed 7-3-2003.This seemed fairly old to me,but the Creative site says this is the latest?

Anyone else having problems with an Audigy card, or have other drivers to use?

Can you record with windows audio recorder and hear yourself?
Are you using any sound enhancements or sound effects?

Thanks Thawky.  I am running all CH USB stuff also.

Zanth, no firewall running while in A/H. Works just fine in AH I.

Lucull, no enhancements or sound effects. Sound recorder/playback in windows works just fine. Again no problems in AH I.

All the latest drivers. Have tried reinstalling DX9,AH II, sound card, ect.

Thanks for the input folks. Any other ideas? :D

When I play offline I can enter "Server" in the radiobox for voice,  and all is well.  It seems to only happen online.  It works in AH 1 but not 2.  Does AH2 Require tweaks to the Windows Xp firewall or are the settings the same as AH1?

Thawk it works fine offline for me also.

As for the tweaks to XP firewall, I have no idea.

I suspect it is a problem with AH II. Perhaps when HTC has time we will get some feedback.

If you find anything else please post it, and I will do the same. Until then we will just have to live with it. :D

Cheers

Heard something about sound blaster audigys....and MOBOs that have VIA chipsets.

Pipz has an Audigy and a mobo with via chipsets.  Creative Tech said that the audigy has issues with via  mobo chipsets.

If you haven't upgraded your via 4 in 1 drivers...try that.

Pipz did...and the audigy still doesn't work.

Thanks for the info. Hajo.

Is he having the same type of problems we are?

Works fine in AH I.

Works offline in AH II, and in windows test mode.

Others can hear me in AH II online, but I can hear no voice at all while in AH II online.

I can hear all game sounds just fine.

Frodo,

I would concur on the VIA Hyperion driver update if you have not done so.  The drivers use to be called '4-in-1' drivers but no longer.

I use the Audigy Gamer card but with the slightly newer nVidia2 board and (as you are aware 'ol squadie of mine!) am having zero problems with vox (other than the AH2 server dropping vox for everyone).

Here is the link:  http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=300

Good luck and I'll look for you online.
