is all the drag in the prop?
« on: May 27, 2004, 09:46:33 AM »
in some planes it seems so.
While doing low alt aerobatics with a P51D I grazed the ground with the prop. speed was ~250mph.

looking for a place to ditch, i flew over the town, then was able to make half a circle around the nearby field, pull the wheels out and land safly on the runway! (A191 on trinity)
the plane just kept gliding loosing speed VERY slowly.

tested some other planes and it's more or less the same (though p51 seemed most extreem). when the prop is destroyed the plane looses almost all the drag.

don't know if it's supposed to be this way.
