BTW Ranker_one.

you're right.

According to the Boeing web site the B17 E carried a 4,000lb load and the G carried 20,0000lb. http://www.boeing.com/companyoffices/history/boeing/b17.html

Saw it Swoop and it is for sure a squeak to get guys for long bomb runs and I do not blame them really, long flight to get wasted so easily sucks bigtime.

I have got very good escort on several occasions but even these guys do not want to fly forever before a fight and they are usually picked up as you can get their attention near the target.

I am not talking the organized TOD stuff here, just the day to day walk in and get shot stuff.

Well, I swore I would not pay after beta and my second month payment goes out Monday so I guess it ain't all bad but that 3rd month is going to be difficult as it stands right now.

I find the tail chase still gives the buff all the advantages in the game. as long as they preserve that they are doing fine. The job of the buffer is to fource the fighter into that tail chase...some are very good at it..Some seem to take what they are delt. It is not dogfighting but a very fun manuver game to fight a good buff pilot..If the fighter gets by our manuvers and gets a shot in.. Do we not want it to work? Several of the planes here historicaly had the capabilitie to drop several buffs in one mision..We want to encorage buff driving so we have enhanced their defensive capabilities..but if we screw with the damage model of the buff the smaller armed planes will not have a chance against the buff and they did have some chance...

I love hunting buff too though so I like the lethality balance where it is. I like the idea of auto switching to the next position as you track a bad guy..

Was in the hot tub today and met a Lanc driver..was involved in the raid on the V2 sites..Really interesting.

Exactly right, Pongo. It should be tough to kill a buff, not impossible.

It should be tough to escape fighters, not impossible.

There is an historic balance there.

greetings

If only we could find 6 guys willing to be
guners each time we fly a B17 then it would
be another storie guys but as it is now it's
very dificult each time I take a gunner posi-
tion as soon as I touch the joystick the dam
plane do not stay level so I have to rush to
the driver position and take control of it
meanwhile small fkrs are shoting like crazy
and down I'm going and I was in the air for
abot half an hour prviously to get to my target...fk man...no fun for me there.
all that totally tubular truble to tri to deliver 6 bombs
ha ha ha ha so totally tubular ridiculous.

Ranker:

I used to have the same problem, gunning was tough because my plane was jerking all over.  Then I did a test and found my joystick was a little loose...the rudder was kicking in even if I just moved the stick back and forth (instead of twisting it for rudder, MS Sidewinder 3D Pro 3.5 yrs old).  What I have done now is changed my joystick config in AH, the dampening and dead band...played with it until my gunning position no longer causes my rudder to kick in so easily and move the plane around.

Don't know if that's the problem but it worked for me.

p.s. Did you know that when driving the buff you can hit 'alt-x' and it will do autopilot?  The only thing that I have had mess up  autopilot is if I jerk the joystick around while in the driver's spot.  I don't think gunning should remove autopilot.
