New AH 2 Reference Map proposal...
« on: May 31, 2004, 09:34:57 PM »
Okay these are the revised Airfield Maps and Legend.  Tell me what you think.  I'll process the Vehicle hangar afterwards if this system is okay for everyone.  Hope you enjoy them.

Oh on a side note these have to be in a .bmp file format and 8 bit color.  You will also have to rename them to sfield, mfield, lfield and drop them in your AH 2 Map folder.

AH 2 Legend

Small Airfield

Medium Airfield

Large Airfield

Awesome job!!!!! Hope we get something soon. Can you number the hangers as well so we can assign specific hangers on missions. Thats what we have now in ah1. Thanks, FBRaptor:aok

Okay yet another bump for edits and revised maps.  The old pictures are gone and here's the new ones above in my original post.

The work is appreciated, but they are too busy for my eyes. I liked your original ones better.

I had done this on the old AH I maps. What I found to be very easy was to assign a code to each of the strats and color colded them. I believe that your first shot at these maps did just that.

FH1 (FH meaning Fighter Hanger)
FH2
FH3

BH1 (BH meaning Bomber Hanger)
BH2

FB1 (FB meaning Fuel Bunker)

etc ...

so when running a mission and handing out targets, all I had to do was assign the code to a person. If you were assigned FH2 then it would be quite obvious on the map what your target was and very easy to remember.

No need to to know wether is was the NE fighter hanger, you just had to recognise the position of your target visually when at the base.

Also, on your legend, use simple fonts ... Arial has always appealed to me as a very readable font.

I still have the originals with the 2 or 3 letter codes.  I was think of re-doing them with the exact same code but color coded and/or a brighter color font.  I can also re-adjust the fonts on the legend because I have that saved also.

I've got the templates for every one of the maps.  It's just a matter of setting them up how folks want them.  Since everyone is different in their opinion I figured I should throw out some examples on all of these.

I like the 2 letter codes better as well but maybe color coded would be real nice. For me I like to see color coded or icons so at a glance I can differ the fuel say from the barracks. Looking good, keep up the good work. Just curious. Shouldnt HTC be creating these for us? They are the ones collecting a monthly fee :)

Thanks for you hard work anyway. Cant wait to see what you end up with. FBRaptor:aok

Ronni has posted a set of maps  here.  It's always good to have alternatives, though.  ;)
