putting forth a suggest to limit the planeset in beta on a rotational basis. matching them up historically roughly thus limiting the planes flown, giving more concentrated testing/bug reporting of a particular plane ... and giving the arena a breath of fresh air, something other than the stale wind of AH1 MA which now permeates it now...

I think Eagler is only asking for it in the Beta so we can "test" planes from the mid-early period without having to fight a bunch of Temps to do it.

You think people would be happy flying their fav planes a few days a month?

No f4us until 10 days into the tour? No p51ds except during the last 4 days or so of the tour?

People can go do that in wbs..... Theres good evidence that since wbs has only around 70 folks on during prime time (the AH ct even less then that) that AH2 (even beta) with an rps would be empty.

The most I have seen in the AH2 with a full plane set (even most perks) is 73.

So its good bet it would be empty.

I could be wrong but I dont think HT is going to test it for us.

Who do you think came up with the idea of a rotating plane set?

I understand what Eagler wants, but I think that turning on the perk system would achieve a similar goal.  I get tired of seeing Tempests, F4U-4's, and Spit 14's.

As for a rolling planeset on a permanent basis, I would be very much against it.  Using myself as an example, let me explain why I think its a bad idea.  Its no secret that the F6F is my favorite plane.  With a rolling planeset, the current F6F that we have wouldn't be enabled until at least half-way through a month (more like the last ten days of the month) because it is an F6F-5, which didn't enter service until the second half of 1944 (last 3 months for it to see wide-spread service).  Thoough I like the F4F and the F4U, I don't like them enough to justify time in AH when my favorite plane is not available.  Give me an F6F-3, and then maybe we can talk.

What about fans of Russian planes?  La5, La7, Yak-9U (maybe the -9T as well) were not introduced until well into the war.  What do they fly until they get those?  A rolling plane set could work, but there needs to be a much larger plane base so that everyone has equivalent planes to fly throughout the month.

Anyways, this is kind of a moot point, since the TOD arena will put planes into situations with historical context and against contemporary foes.  The MA is the MA, and there is anything but historical match-ups and context in there.

It doesnt matter "who thunk it up" it's what do you think of it now?

Do you think it was good for wbs?

Just for the record an rps would not affect me much, I only fly 109s. There's a 109 for "all seasons" in AH.

I also think the p51d is the stupidest plane and the most boring to fight, same with most late war Ami planes  (there are exceptions of course). So I would be fine with it.

An rps would high lite the huge gaps in the plane set. Substitutions and date manipulation would be rampant followed by the inevitable complaints.
