What New Video Game...
« on: June 02, 2004, 03:15:19 PM »
...would you like to see developed based on a historical event or era?

I would like to see one based on the events of the year 1066 a.d., when three great protagonists vied for the throne of England.  Harald Hardraada of Norway, Harold Godwineson of England, and William Bastard of Normandy clashed in some of the most pivotal struggles in English history.  Viking against English, English against Norman.  Always thought this would make a great documentary movie similar to Braveheart, without the liberties taken with the facts.

Your thoughts?

Regards, Shuckins/Leggern

Napoleonic-era Ship combat sim, where you have command of a frigate, with a  dynamic campaign and all that.

I'd get any game that had a self-diagnostic application to tell exactly why it isn't running correctly.

That being said I'd like to see an update of SSI's "Fighting Steel".  WWI and WWII naval warfare have always been a particularly favorite subject of mine.

Sikboy....

The more i think about it, my game request would simply be Dangerous Waters (if it gets to be as good as i think) with more platforms spanning from the 50's and onwards to the present. It should not be hard for them (only lots of work) to add the platforms as soon as the rest of the engine is solid.

Ooooh yes I'm with Pooh21 on this one. Fully 3D model, 1st person subjective view and a decent shooting/fencing model for boarding actions.......I want to be the Master & Commander!

mmmm...but i figure that the traditional overhead style would work best for naval engagements before the fencing begins...

as for the 3d fencing/ swordfighting models...well i always figured that attaching the end of the sword to your mouse with left click for attacks (single left click for stab, click and hold while moving for slashing style) and right click for defend, and middle for turning...not the best possible thing but it could work (best thing would be to have a fake plastic sword with the computer tracking its movements and track ir or some such to monitor your body movements)

Battle of Trafalgar and the Spanish Armada.

And of course, more importantly,  Red Baron (the original) with same campaigns, style, missions etc with modern graphics.  I loved that game :)
