Nothing personal, its just the mentality of the city.
Our mythical hero is a boxer that comes from nothing to become something and them loses it all. Our sports teams finish in the top three for decades at a time - but never win - and the people here still have a chip on their shoulder for the same reasons.
Philadelphia
used to be the capital. Now were not as big or as strong as New York, nor as we as important as DC. Our only refuge is to pretend that a broken bell is the most important object in the country and to make fun of New Jersey and Delaware on a consistant basis.
Its a mentality that Ive not encountered anywhere else. Its almost like the people here appreciate a loser - who tries as hard as he can but still doesnt make the grade - more a winner.
