First off you say YOU gave permission to your married daughter of 24 to travel to Spain.  You then said YOU will send your other children aged 25 to Europe. Are you kidding? At 24 she's a full grown adult and a married woman????????????????   :(  Has she moved out of your house yet??

This is not criticism, just an observation. You seem very controlling and patriarchal. LOL

Also to say the 'we' are pretty much the same politically is absurd. Spain is about as different politically and culturally from my country as is Mexico is from the USA. Europe is not all the same. Every country has it's peculiarities, good and bad.  The Spanish work different hours, eat at different times, eat different foods and see the world differently to most other countries. They are anything but typical.  The Spanish really know what life is about in my opinion and seem to live it to the full. I've been to Seville recently. I hope she saw it the way I did.

I think the USA is wonderful but not superior politically or whatever to my country, just different. You are entitled to think that though. Most of the countries of the world think they are the greatest country there is. It's called patriotism.

You say you travelled. If all it did was to confirm your prejudices then I suggest you stay home from now on. In your case travel, it seems, did not broaden the mind.

I think this is a troll because in later posts you admit liking Italy which in truth is probably the most chaotic country in Europe politically. It's full of Communists and every other 'ism' known to man.  But like the Spanish the Italians love life and food and their kids.

Yes she went, yes I gave her permission and money to go, yes she's married, no she doesn't live at home but we helped her buy a house as a wedding present, yes we are patriarchal as are many from my country (I'm actually Cuban naturalized American). yes I love southern europe and Italy most of all,  Yes the Spanish siesta is an awesome idea, I've been eating Spanish food my whole life.  My wife is American from Asturian parents. My family is from Italy and Acadian French on my father's side and Cataluna on my mother's side. yes I think you guys are mostly political morons. yes I think America is the greatest place on earth,  yes I agree with your assesment of how travel has affected me, travel is but a foretaste of hell but it needs to be experienced so that we can appreciate what we have here in America.  However travel to the Caribbean and South America were very appealing to me because of how nice the people where as opposed to the euros which excluding Southern France, Spain and Italy struck me as actually quite rude.  The Parisiens worst of all.  My cousin from Belgium says that it is because we (Americans) are like peaches, soft on the outside but with a tough pit inside but Euros are like nuts, hard on the outside but soft on the inside.  I agree with this analogy perhaps if you guys in the North of Europe were a little less formal, but who am I to say?  and finally yes I shall never return to Europe.

Hahah, three weeks abroad, in one nation, and she can form an opinion on an entire continent?

Man, that's like the krikkits in hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.

"It must go".

Storch, I know you hate me for being a Yuropheean, but I love ya man. You may feel disgust for me and Europe, but I cannot bring myself to think less of you. And I can't really give a sh|t about what someone on your side of the pond happens to think about my little spot in the world - it's mine, it works the way it does, I'm pretty happy with it overall, and it takes a lot more than words for your input to change anything in my daily life, so it just doesn't matter.

Because it'd be f_cking boring without the red blooded American patriots Insta-Knowledge types. They're good to have around, to get some balance from the commie socialists here :D.

I shall go out and see if I can score a 16 year old soon. It's legal here, you see. And it's such tender meat. And they're easy.

How old is your daughter again?

So, to all the Insta-Experience Americans out there , and see ya sooner or later. :) :D

Storch,  one might argue that Cuba is as jacked up a Nation as there is, and since you're Cuban the obvious question is- If you are so concerned over politics of other Nations then why don't you go back to Cuba and make a real difference?

Oh, wait- you are "naturalized." That makes you superior to everyone else. ;)

There are more guns per person in Norway than in the US. Main difference is perhaps that we mostly have hunting rifles and shotguns, not as many pistols.

Next..... :)

I am pleased to report that I have a true American for a daughter, Thank God.

Please define the term "True American". And please explain the difference between a true American and a European.

She can now appreciate the superiority of our system and our ways.

Please explain the superiority of your system and your ways.

those two weeks in southern europe have had an impact on her world view that no amount of my explaining could have ever accomplished.

What is it that you have tried to explain to her about Europe?

I think that I will send my other children on their own to europe as they reach 25 years of age.

Please do, we need more American girls to corrupt over here.

What a great place for young Americans to learn what not to be like.

Same here, how should young Americans be like then? whats the differance?

All in all, this post by Storch must be a troll, no one can be this dense. One of the most "racist" (cant find the right word) posts ive read here.

If this indeed is Storch´s true belives then hes the stereotype of an American that we got over here...

Did they seem rude to you because they didn't do small talk the way you people do? I find many Americans unthrustworthy BS talkers. However I met some of the nicest people ever when I was
there and I plan to return, propably to Florida next time. If you indeed travel to strenghten you prejudices please do yourself and the rest of us a favor and stay home.

Why would I want to return to a place that I haven't seen since I was three years of age.  The United States is my home and I unashamedly love America.  Maybe more than you do.

Cuba has been so badly destroyed by european ideas in action as to be useless.  there are currently two generations on that island know only daddy Castro and mother Russia as providers.  And they are lost.  They have no work ethic and we see that here in Miami in the countless rafters when we hire them.  Some are able to assimilate others are clogging our judicial system or dead.

The Cuban of the pre Castro revolution resides mainly in the gracious, generous United States.  We came to Miami, Florida and converted it from a sleepy backwater into a thriving metropolis that does more for the US economy than any other city it's size.

The result of european social and economic experimentation may be readily witnessed firsthand on the island of Cuba today.  Another stark example would the two Koreas.

WTG europe.

I dislike some europeans because of the commonly held negative view towards Americans.

The interesting thing is that since I'm fluent in Spanish, Portugese and creole plus I can muddle my way through French and Italian and I'm not white you wouldn't readily pick me up as a conservative American.

It's easy to start conversations in pubs and such and since I generally give everyone I meet a clean slate it's no problem starting small talk.  "So you are from Cuba?  Yes.  Ah yes fidel! great man how he has shaken his member at America for 40 years!! (or words to that effect).  I concede two positives to fidel first is education currently Cuba has a literacy level of 99% the highest on earth.  Secondly in the Area of Medicine, Cuban researchers and doctors are world class.  I freely admit and admire this.  at some point in the conversation I have to say well hold on now I was born in Cuba but now I'm American. (Raised european eyebrows, body language is so cool).  Actually my family was involved with the Batista regime and had businesses on the National level, we were forced to flee from Cuba to different parts of the world.  I'm glad my father selected the United States.  From that point the conversation usually degenerates but not always.  I have met a few people who were cool with that and we could continue to drink and converse but the majority just wander off.  Some while commenting. hehehe.

You're lying, or making up conversations that never took place.
Castro is viewed as a dictator here. Only a very small percentage of the population has sympathy for him.

And blaming Europe for what happened in Cuba... :lol.

Unless your un-education makes you think that USSR was a part of Europe?
