The Cubans who came here in the late 50s-early 60s were the priveledged ruling class who fled before Fidel Castro and his  popular Communist revolution.

These Cubans were more repressive than Castro ever has been in their treatment of the common Cuban peasants. Now they're delusional in the belief they will some day retake that island and, once again, oppress the peasant class.

We need to deport these Neocon Cubans  before they do more than simply rigging the last Presidential election in Florida. They are dangerous and they are un-American. We need to reserve Guantamano Bay for Cubans, not Iraqis.

BTW Storch, I noticed in your bio you like to skindive for fish. That's one of my hobbies too, and someday I'd love to dive in water where a wetsuit isn't necessary- perhaps if I ever make it to Florida you and I can argue politics and then take our Hawaiian Slings into the ocean to shoot some fish? :)

are you trying to troll my troll!!!! I ain't biting.  I have a Mako 192 that we use exclusively for skindiving.  Did I write in my Bio that I used a sling??  Anytime you head to Fl. let me know  I usually go out during the week because boating on the weekend is like being in a madhouse here.

Our visibility in Northern California is maybe ten feet on the best of days, usually it's about 5-6 feet or less most days so a sling is more than adequate.

That Mako 192 you use is one hell of a speargun, though- I've been watching you take fish  all the way from the other side of the Atlantic for the past two days. What's the range on that thing- 5 thousand miles? ;)

I must say Storch I like your style. You can stir it up bigstyle.

However travel to the Caribbean and South America were very appealing to me because of how nice the people where as opposed to the euros which excluding Southern France, Spain and Italy struck me as actually quite rude. The Parisiens worst of all.

Everyone knows Parisiens are rude. Even Parisiens. LOL  The rest is a bit of a generalisation.

if you guys in the North of Europe were a little less formal

I have to say,  being Irish that we could never be accused of being too formal or rude to visitors for that matter I think we tend to have more in common with the Italians and Spanish at times.  But then like the British we often tend to think of Europe as being somewhere south of us rather than us being part of it

BTW I agree with you re Queen Elizabeth 1. I wasn't just the Scots she practised her 'tolerance' on. We Irish have plenty of examples of her 'religious tolerance'. Revisionism indeed!

I'm sure the Irish preferred Queen Mary I, good Roman Catholic that she was ;)

Religious tolerance has to be read relative to the time.

Queen Mary couldn't have been that bad. They named two ships after her? ;)

But seriously Queen Mary was mad, nobody has any illusions about her.  In truth we weren't over keen on English monarchs of any religious persuasion. They and their subjects peculiar version of religious 'tolerance' effects us to this present day.

Well, yes, you were invaded and occupied and had loads of colonists shipped in and had your land taken from you.

But look on the bright side, in a way the English united you as a people.  You were all busy fighting each other before the English arrived!
