Why do so many Canadians play for US teams if hockey is so popular and lucrative in Canada?

You'd think Canada would have the major hocky league, but they dont. Why is that?

What do you mean by "have the major hockey league"?

Is that anything like "having the gold medal"?

Or "having the world championship"?

:D

dang, you guys let Grun troll you on everything!  :)

anyways...

our CANADIANS are better than your CANADIANS!

Go Bolts!

Oh, our Euros were better too!  :D

edit:

oh yeah, how many years did it take Canada to win another Olympic medal?   You can combine Ray Bourque and Dave Andreychuk's years to win the Cup and it is still not enough to make up the drought Canada endured to win gold in 2002.  :)

Fifty, 5-0 freaking gosh darn years.  I like to think that it made it all the sweet when we finally won, it was a heck of a party.  :)

It's not like hockey is over yet this year though.  World Cup of Hockey is coming up this summer and we will get to see all the NHL stars play.  :)

hehe, I know it was sweet for Canada to win the gold again.  I was pleased with that game and was happy with the silver medal for the USA.  I just like to tease you guys about the 50 years every time it comes up.  ;)  I wouldn't tease if I didn't respect the Canadian team and fans.  Besides, I have at least one WC Canadian to pull for in Brad Richards!  However, I hope the USA beats him if they end up playing.  I don't think we will though, most of our "stars" are getting on up there in years.  Doug Weight and Jeremy Roenick have been playing forever it seems.   The one position we're lacking experience in is in goal.  We're bringing young players in DePietro and Esche.  My guess is that Esche will be minding the nets as he played well for Philly once he took over, and played fantastic against Tampa in the Conference Finals.  :)

Looking forward to the WC of Hockey.  :)

Looking forward to another World Cup though as well.  Qualifying starts for the USA this weekend for the 2006 soccer World Cup!  (had to plug the US Soccer team, given their logo is my avatar!)

The gold wouldn't have ment as much if it wasn't won against such a great team.  A friend of mine owns the CBC DVD of the game and it starts of with the following monologue.  And I take it heart.

“Opponent”

You are my adversary, but you are not my enemy.
For your resistance gives me strength.
Your will gives me courage.
Your spirit ennobles me.
And though I aim to defeat you, should I succeed, I will not humiliate you.
Instead, I will honour you.
For without you, I am a lesser man.

"I don't think we will though, most of our "stars" are getting on up there in years."

We might be in the same situation, "Le Grand Mario" is going to Captain again.

I got news for you Canadian hockey fans- As soon as you start paying a major league salary you'll start attracting major league atheletes. If our American atheletes focused on hockey instead of baseball, football and basketball noone would have ever heard of Wayne Gretzky.

Airhead, you stoopid prik! I agree. Wayne didn't excactly have a chance of being noticed without the USA..kinda like Brain Adams and Celine Dion :)

What's more American than buying the best talent that money can buy no matter where it originates?

So it's a bunch of Canucks?  Well, damn!  Them Canucks sure can play some hockey.
