When will those idiots at NHL HQ learn

That real sports are decided by a best of 1

As hockey competes with Tennis and Arena leage football for the 8th most popular sport, ABC happily drops out of televising the sport in the US and TV ratings dropped in the US AGAIN.

Why dont they just aggree on the rules and enforce them and let the top players do thier magic without being held and hacked all the time.

Can't wait for August and the first preseason NFL games!

NHL should be a huge sport but for some reason it just isnt making it.  I dont really know why either, playoff hockey is the best.

I don't know why it isn't huge either! It may be exposure to the game? What I mean is, almost at any time of year here in Toronto, you can drive down any street, drive past any tennis court and see guys playing ball hockey.
I also think that because many people who watch NHL hockey without having played the game don't realize how hard it is to skate full speed, make a accurate rink wide pass; or what it feels like to get hit by 16 ounces of vulcanized rubber at 100+ mph.
It's going to take a little time, but I have no doubt  the excitement of this game will draw new people.

Because soccer is ghey. Hockey is just soccer on ice. Therefore Hockey = Ghey.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

xr...remember that blue light thingy Fox put on the puck a few years back?  The average (non Canadian, non hockey playing) sports fans liked/needed it to follow the puck.  Canadians and hockey players HATED it and it was eventually taken off.

It is such a fast sport most people can't even see the puck, let alone follow the game.

Bingo.  What kind of score is a 2-1 victory, anyway?  I mean, for 3-plus hours of television, that scoreboard better be chinging like a pinball machine (ala NBA) or nailing scores a minimum of 3 at a time (NFL).

And no cheerleaders, either.  What's up with that?

2-1 equates to a 14-7 footbal game, but I suppose the latter is exciting while the former isn't?

Let's talk about the most annoying spectator sport - the final four minutes of any basketball game.

Foul - timeout - foul - foul - timeout - foul - timeout - timeout - timeout - foul.  All the efforts of the previous 44 minutes are meaningless and the final 4 minutes are impossible to watch.

And calling hockey ghey? What about, "Hey, he accidently slapped the back of my hand, I deserve to get two free throws - Waaaaa."

What I don't understand is that it seems every kid, boy and girl, in the US plays soccer at least some time in their life, yet soccer as a major league sport here is a non-factor.

This is one of the things that bores me about basketball: scoring is just too easy.

All sports should have cheerleaders (well female ones anyway: what is up with male cheerleaders at college games?).

When I was living in the US I tried to get into hockey: it looked like a sport I would like (i.e. continuous action, skill, full contact) but for some reason it never did anything for me.

I don't really have much interest in football (soccer to yoo foreigner types) either, part from the international competitions.

They seem somewhat hard when they're warm. They're really hard when they're on the ice. :)
