The key word is on average....

...but I know what your saying. A lot of kids in my school are just going through the motions and not getting a lot out of free education.

I used to be private schooled as well, but I can't say I miss it.

On another note, I should mention that I'm gone for the next week. Summer seminar at the Naval Academy in Annapolis.

hawker... no offense but... I don't really care if the kids that I am paying for are "enjoying" going to school. They aren't there to party on my dime. I do care that I am not getting value for my money and that the academic level of the U.S. drops every year.

You do realize that a private school student will be on average 3 grades higher in learning than you? this may not seem like a big deal to you now but...

when you get out and have to compete and when you get out and have to pay for public schools you might take on a different view.

i went to private school for 8 years and from my point of view it has made no difference. I now go to public school. Private schools are no different than public with the exception of grading scale.

also private schools deal with trouble makers same differently. My school you got in a fight you went to something like ACP for a day, while at public you are uspended.

b17.. I really don't care about your pitiful personal experiance.. The truth is, I am paying for your worthless schooling and you probly won't even be able to make change or a decent hamburger after 12 years of public school..

I am paying for a system that is putting my country behind the others so you can kiss my ass.

Someone please explain how 1 drop of soap is worse than a week of suspension for this kid. The way I see it, the drop of soap seemed to have a positive effect on the kid. Told him that not only wouldn't that type of behavior not be tolerated but that someone actually cared about him. As opposed to sending him home where who knows what kind of environment he may have experienced. Maybe his parents worked and would leave him alone? Maybe he'd be out on the streets exposed to who knows what type of influences.

This is a good example of what can happen when we rely on the "system" to protect us.
