Dead Americans

This helps to realized what 800+ dead soldiers look like ... so I can keep driving my big V8 and my worst concern being to wonder if I should eat a turkey panido or Thai food.

It is located at Santa Monica peer, you have a list of names of all the soldiers that died, where and how. You can write their name/persoanl message on a paper and go stick in on a cross, with a free flower/flag.

The list was provided by Foxnews.com, reading it you realize that there is a lot of non combat related deaths, the stupid accident kind "got electrocuted", "got ran over by a truck".

When I was other there, most people participating to this memorial were Latinos, which I find nice. Those famillies explained their kids what this was about and had them fill a card.

For the ones living in L.A., a free civil lesson to your kids is worth the 2h in traffic.:)

A local boy was killed while serving in Iraq early during the conflict.  That's a cool idea that Santa Monica has.

If you want to put it in perspective...got to Midnight Target's post about the WW II memorial.  There is a wall with gold stars on it, each of which represents 100 American dead.

Kudos to Santa Monica. Like it while it lasts, chances are some chicken hawk or "patriot" will destroy it before too long.

Seems like a paranoid or fatalistic point of view, not sure which.

Frenchy, as for driving one's big V-8 and choosing between turkey panido or Thai food...the choice is still one's own as it always has been. If you're convinced these are demonstrative of the reasons for this war, then forgive me for considering you a lost cause and not challenging your beliefs.

to the fallen. It's a nice memorial.

VOR, just enjoy the show and stop being obsessive about "he's French, there HAS to be something anti-American in his post".

Seems you are the one hoping/looking for a fight as I read none of that in Vor's post.

Right next to it, they should put up the crosses of those killed in 9/11/01, just for perspective.
