A Salute Suggestion
« on: June 18, 2004, 11:34:43 AM »
I am not sure what has been simplified by typing .s as opposed to like we used to do, but anyway....

Instead of tards just popping off salutes to themselves and squadmates, why not tie it to an in game event.  Like...

SYSTEM: You have killed Mathman.  Send , Y or N?

SYSTEM: You have been killed by Mathman.  Send , Y or N?

How would that be implementated though?  An input from a joystick (or whatever) could give an incorret command (etc.) if a pop up came up asking for a Y or N?  Or if you're still engaged the last thing you want is to give a Y or N?

I think the 'tards' popping off salutes is just people getting used to the feature.  Many people I know were unaware of how to do the command and were experimenting.  Alternative is that Salute goes on private message.

Just make it a default auto-option in the damned setup menu.

(checkbox) after a victory
(checkbox) after a defeat

No damned popups while I'm in combat.

No having to take the time to be less impersonal by spelling the chad's name perfectly while you're in the middle of a furball. :D

p.s. And just have it send the to the recipiant. No need to prove to the world you're the perfect gentleman flyer and all. ;)

I'm not crazy about this idea either, or to be more clear...your idea sucks Furry, just like you!

I do like the idea of making the be a private msg to the intended recipient, tho.  I think that'd be perfect.

Or, if it stays the way it is, could it be fixed so that the message that's presented uses the same case that the person's handle actually uses?  IE: "SOB" instead of "sob".

I remember playing RBII online...there was so many damn salutes cluttering up the place one could barely get into the air........oh and the long detailed discussions about "honour" really got a bit tiring too.
