Complains and progress of pilots
« on: March 30, 2000, 08:41:00 AM »
First: I complain sometime myself. When frustrated badly I go to the team channel and start crying about bad guns, bad support, bad luck, bad weather and all other kind of bad things which killed me and did not let me to make a kill.

But it is the wrong way if anyone want to became a good virtual pilot. Every time we find an excuse for our loss we lost a chance to use it as a lesson and to avoid it in feature. So I am trying to shut up every time I want to comment my death, and then go offline to watch film and find out what was the reason for the loss. And in 90% of time I find out that it was my mistake more, than anything else. I strongly advise everyone to make same, first it will make channel 1 less noise, second it will be more good pilots in the game.

Hear, Hear Fariz!

Exactly Right!

Usually, there are 3 reasons one gets killed in on-line ACM.

1. Poor SA.

You are hovering 2k over a pair of Spits trying to plan your attack. A B&Z P-51 drops on you and blows you away. The -51 didn't kill you; your poor SA killed you.

2. Poor Flying.

In a Spit you meet another Spit, co-alt, co-E, equal gas and ammo. He kills you in two turns. Face it, he outflew you.

3. Poor shooting.

You see a Spit below hovering over another pair of Spits. You figure he's trying to plan an attack. You B&Z him in your -51 but you fail to hit him as he displacement rolls onto your 6 and blows you away as you egress. His tactics and guns didn't kill you; it was your failure to kill him when you had a major advantage that did you in. (Not to mention the secondary error, a poor egress technique.)

Those are oversimplifications but you are SO right.

When you get killed, it's almost always because you made a fatal error either in judgement, flying or shooting.

...and we ALL do, sooner or later!

I agree completely, 90% of the time if you die...you deserved to. The flip side is the inconsistant lag/FE views that we deal with.

I bought it last night on a Front aspect shot from a wounded hog (1c of course)..on my FE he had no solution..was nose down and away building E at 2.0 on my low 1 o'clock.

all of a sudden I'm getting a "Break, Break!!!" from my wingie over RW as he materializes 800 away on a nice rudder rake...was it Bad SA..nope I watched him the whole way. Bad judgement, maybe, but on my FE he wasn't the major threat. I altered course to minimize his posibility of a shot. But I obviously had some packet drop and YIKE's he mini warps and wham

What in the hell is a Leawood swagger??

I have out-flown and have been out-flown, but there are special times when ya run into a bonafide ace!  It seems there is nothing you can do to turn the tide, or to escape.  Ya feel almost hopeless, but ya fly like a possesses madman just hoping a buddy come along to help!  Those are bleak times!

On the new gunnery thread, HT points out that nobody has mentioned the bullits dropping to much. Well, if someone had, they would have been labeled a whiner. This is what is wrong with the, you shouldnt complain rule. We need to squeak. And let HTC sort out what is legitimate and what is,nt.

squeaking/whining and questions about bugs, issues or game changes has much more to do with attitude.

Post that go somthing along the lines of this thing is porked , fix it now or continuing to reiterate you veiw point  time and time again will be persived as a whine and wont get much attention from us.

Post that describe a problem with specfics as to the event or why you think somthing should be changed we do look into or consider.

Ok Hitech here's a request.

Please consider changing the bomber gunner positions so that the same number position is the same in each bomber. In other words the #2 position in the b17 I think is a top turret, but currently is a tail gunner in a B26 etc. Make all #2 positions in all bombers the same relative gun position so we can program those into our sticks to jump around. If that position doesn't exist in that bomber just leave it blank.

Thanks

Ranger Bob

HiTech..

Check the latest gunnery thread. Statistical data was given. Historical data given. Much commentary from both sides of the issue.

We got "the circle is complete"

Yes... it may seem that the issue comes up a lot. Again and again in fact.

I respectfully invite you to address the ISSUES. Not blow off the customers with noise. Obviously there is a problem, percieved or real; it exists; it's received a huge number of posts. Convince us it's not an issue by presenting data and reasoning. Don't dodge it with an attack on the posters.

Sorry if it's an inconvienience. We all want the same thing I think. To stop the whining; just address the issues directly.

Respectfully;

I would like to see the gunner postions synced up on aircraft.  I have heard there is a problem with doing this because the B26 has less guns than the B17 (don't know if its true or not.)  But if this is the case, can you make a "dummy postion" in the B26 with 0 ammo, to make the relative gun positions match.

If syncing the B26/B17 gun positions is not possible can you explain why?  Or if there is a good reason for the difference?
